Re: Target announcing closures in Portland, Ore.; Seattle, Wash.; California; Harlem

Interesting that they kept the Downtown Seattle store. I'm guessing the store does enough volume to overcome theft issues. It's pretty busy. I'm thinking a lack of business was more of a factor and theft issues made them unprofitable.

Re: WSJ: Rite Aid plans 400-500 store closures in pending bankruptcy filing

Several people has said that the west coast stores should go back to the Payless name. That would be a huge mistake. It's been nearly 30 years since Rite Aid purchased Payless. No one under 50 remembers the name. And with the huge popular shift out west, it's even fewer. Might as well start with a n...

Re: WSJ: Rite Aid plans 400-500 store closures in pending bankruptcy filing

The question at this point is how many stores can actually be sold to CVS/Walgreens as ongoing stores. And how many locations simply close with the prescription files transferred to a nearby CVS/Walgreens? I am shaken by this quote which I read last night: "The company has proposed to close ro...

Re: C&S new stores in the PNW

They will have rights to QFC in OR/WA. I would be shocked if they used any other banner than QFC in OR/WA. They will have collectively 150+ stores between OR and WA (plus the small group in Alaska). That is not a bad base of stores. QFC under Kroger has been poor- perimeters are poor, prices are wa...

Re: New Tigard Grocery Outlet - former Bed Bath and Beyond

Whoops! Thanks for the clarification, Babs. :) What happened to DSW?!? I noticed their Northgate "Center" (mall) space is now vacant in Seattle too. DSW is going into Cascade Plaza in Beaverton between Nordstrom Rack and Old Navy as a replacement for the Bridgeport location. But yes they ...

Re: New Tigard Grocery Outlet - former Bed Bath and Beyond

Near the Bridgeport Village shopping center. That was quick, but it was probably from the earlier closure round? Or they have really improvised refrigeration and freezing. https://www.facebook.com/TigardGroceryOutlet/ They took over the old DSW / Borders Books space. The Bed Bath and Beyond space i...

Re: Red Robin Attempting Comeback

Red Robin says the average customer only goes to Red Robin once a year. The company has invested in flattop grills for gourmet burgers. Red Robin might be a place you go once in a long time, but that is due to the high prices and long waits. I don't go out of my way for Red Robin and unless there i...

Re: Kohl's closing Albuquerque/Coronado Center due to theft

I kinda wonder if the Portland Gateway location, which is next door to a Fred Meyer which has had issues with theft and has enhanced security not seen in other locations, is headed for the same fate. That location is also a former Mervyn's and at one time appeared to have three entrances, one of wh...

Re: C&S new stores in the PNW

Idaho is one area where I would expect them to keep the Albertsons name, given that's where the chain started, and the fact they have an existing store base. I could see Albertsons and Fred Meyer co-existing in markets such as Boise. Safeway has faded away already in the southern part of Idaho, but...

Re: C&S new stores in the PNW

Most likely the two to three Safeway bannered stores in Alaska that will go to C&S will become Carr’s. I’m sure that will work as that is well known in Alaska and they can play up their Alaskan heritage. But outside of Western Washington, Portland Metro and Alaska, I’m wondering if we could see...
