I think this is the forum to post this:
Amazon Fresh Ditches "Just Walk Out"
Feels like this might be a result of the integration with Whole Foods -- but it strikes me as a major announcement of defeat without actually closing the stores.

Re: Ralphs Fresh Fare Santa Barbara remodel
I like using Google Reviews and Yelp reviews to find pictures. Ralphs Fresh Fare stores with this new decor include Brea, Anaheim Hills, Foothill Ranch, Laguna Niguel, Camarillo, and a few others. The main highlight is a ugly, stenciled wall on either filthy nasty reclaimed barn wood or really chea...

Re: Stop & Shop closures
Now, to be honest, I'm just baffled. Didn't have time to go to a lot of stores today but I was in the Morris Plains location this afternoon. Not only was it the best-run Stop & Shop I've visited in a few weeks, it was just a plain old really good supermarket. It's a converted Edwards, last renov...

Re: Ralphs Fresh Fare Santa Barbara remodel
I've heard a few people on this forum talking about how awful the reclaimed barnwood decor is, but I haven't been able to find pictures. Can someone post a link or a picture?ClownLoach wrote: ↑March 22nd, 2024, 11:27 am I did visit a tiny little Fresh Fare in Camarillo, and it had been remodeled to the horrendous barnwood reclaimed decor.

Re: Stop & Shop closures
I found that during the pandemic, Stop & Shop's market share slipped by 1.1 percent, with the other Ahold Delhaize banners gained market share (they didn't have numbers for Giant-MD other than it being positive, but Food Lion went up 1.8, Giant-PA went up by 0.5, Hannaford went up by 0.5), blam...

Re: 🛒 Kroger-Albertsons Merger: National Impact
Going up to New England, one factor is the future of Shaw's/Star Market. I suspect Wakefern/ShopRite would buy those. Shaw's is one of the weaker Albertsons divisions. Not sure Wakefern wants much of Shaw's/Star Market. I have to assume they don't want stores in Maine, New Hampshire, or Vermont, an...

Re: Stop & Shop closures
I enjoyed that comment- they mention there are "people shopping in the stores" causing the empty shelves. Looking around I don't see many shoppers. And the amount of fresh product out... implies there are not many shoppers and certainly not enough to empty the shelves faster than the empl...

Re: Stop & Shop closures
I wanted to come back here now that there's some further discussion on my blog about this. We have any number of different comments people have left, but as you can see there are some really detailed reports on the NY (Hudson Valley and Long Island/Queens) stores. Overall, it sounds like stocking ha...

Re: 🛒 Kroger-Albertsons Merger: National Impact
I don't want to call Haggen, Andronico's, Kings, and Balducci's worthless but those banners alone I am not sure they could stand alone. There is a reason who those companies sold to Albertsons. They were not exactly thriving. Haggen and King's/Balducci's were in bankruptcy. Andronico's was in somew...
