Re: Albertsons announces strategic review of company

I see El Rancho opened a store in Liberal, Kansas. There is a Dillons there with the F4L interior and Kroger hasn't done that interior outside F4L areas for a decade so the market was likely ripe for a real hispanic format. But I am a bit puzzled by this location selection. Why Liberal, Kansas? And ...

Re: Westfield Says It Is Done With The U.S.

I can speak to the "dislike" at two malls: Horton Plaza in San Diego and Old Orchard outside of Chicago. Horton Plaza's opening was a watershed moment for the revitalization of downtown San Diego. Slapping "Westfield Shoppingtown" on the top of a landmark drew scorn from the cit...

It goes back to the Standard Oil of California days-they were considered the premier service station system on the West Coast (Union 76 was their closest rival)
Noticed down in SoCal the 76 stations looked better than they look in other territories.

Re: Safeway NorCal Remodels and New Stores

This is Albertsons Premium Fresh and Healthy. This decor was created by the original Albertsons before it broke up in 2006. It was designed to be spacious and minimalistic. No fancy colors to distract customers. The bland decor was designed so that customers focus on the food and not on the walls. ...

Re: Save Mart-Sonora-Pharmacy Issues

Yes, my pharmacist friend had a gun put to her back as the robber demanded promethazine with codeine cough syrup. It is sold on the street for tons of money. It is highly addictive. Any pharmacy that has it is bound to get robbed at gunpoint. Pharmacies have gotten robbed several times a month. It ...

Re: Safeway NorCal Remodels and New Stores

Albertsons is remodeling the Montebello location. They rearranged the store and im not sure where anything is anymore. They did rename all the aisles with local street names which is kinda neat. Not sure when they are going to finish but its looking nice. I'll have to grab some pictures next time I...

Save Mart-Sonora-Pharmacy Issues

Appears some pharmacy issues with Save Mart in Sonora. Not clear what this is all about. https://www.uniondemocrat.com/news/article_1c2d60c2-bd10-11ec-a9ed-f70872036c02.html Have noticed in Reno the Save Mart units have large signs on the store entry doors that they do not carry cough syrups with Co...

Re: Kroger relocating store in north Plano

Interesting news on the DFW Kroger front this morning: Dallas Morning News Article (Paywalled) Kroger has announced that its store at 9700 Coit Road in Plano will be closing at a yet to be announced date and will be undergoing a "major relocation" to another site nearby, with all staff ma...

Re: Pricing Snapshot-Smiths-Reno, NV- Thanksgiving vs. Easter

Avian flu and residual Covid disruptions may be to blame. Actually many retailers are blaming egg price increases in regulations and "Cage Free" egg rules that have gone into effect or are about to go into effect in multiple states. Such law is not in effect yet in Nevada (July 2022) but ...

Re: Albertsons "Innovation" Center

Albertsons also added a top of the line gas station and convenience store to the parking lot at this store. It seems like it would make sense to have the current store either expanded or significantly renovated into something at the level of the Market Street unit or Broadway unit.
