Nope, on Google Street View it's always been a tiny Penney's. Mervyn's building became Kohls (like so many).
I figured JCPenney would not have added the catalog/salon door if they'd assumed a former Mervyn's.

Re: Publix entering Louisville, KY in 2023

Safeway in Colorado has been in decline (to my first hand experience) since the late 1970s. When I worked at Kings Soopers under Dillons (twice), Safeway was bad (almost everywhere). No one I knew shopped there and to this day (still have many friends there) RARELY walk into a Safeway. I do not get...

Re: Lack of Whole Foods North County San Diego

Does anyone know who supplies Gelson's? I don't think I've seen Supervalu or C&S brands there. Are they just buying directly from manufacturers in small quantities at over-inflated prices? I agree with everyone that the value proposition is not there. Center store seems like Ralphs products at ...

Re: Walmart 2023 Closings

If you go to GMaps and look at the photos of this store, it feels unpleasant inside. Modern smart phones take pretty good photos so you can't blame the 'dark' feeling and low ceilings just on that. I realized after reading that it was a former Mervyn's, which explains some of the ceiling height issu...

Re: Wendys Dynamic Pricing

I felt like this was never really going to happen, but it brought a lot of attention to the #2 hamburger quick service restaurant in the United States... albeit somewhat negative attention.

EDLP, no app hoops, and generally clean, easy to shop stores with employees on the sales floor? Who would've thunk?

Re: WcDonald's / Domestically

I think McDonald's is suffering from sky high prices, and no new food ideas. The food is another issue. They still haven't undone the menu damage from COVID (no Fruit & Yogurt Parfait). They really need to loosen up in regional menu items and franchisee freedom to experiment. No salads. No gril...

Re: Burlingame Fred Meyer sign demolished

I have some pictures of took of it at night (not sure how to post images here) and the LED looks better than the neon. The white of the Burlingame is much whiter and brighter. The red is a slightly different color and not as bright but it still looks good. Pretty good example of LED replacing neon ...

Best Buy just started a tiered one as well.
:? So I guess this is the new "cash grab" as eCommerce lags. (can these be counted as eCommerce?)

Re: Jack In the Box 59 Cent Jumbo Jack

I do not believe our local franchisee is even operating under this promo.
Related, prices at JitB have shot up quite a bit in the last few months. The $8 Munchie Meals are back but are posted at $12 now I believe.
