Re: Bluemercury
Different price range than Sephora or Ulta. The usual places for these are lifestyle centers, the surviving high end malls, urban neighborhoods, or inner ring suburban downtowns. It shouldn't be difficult to find 30 of those locations. Kiehl's (one of the lines they sell) closed a lot of stores dur...

Re: JCPenney Closing 4 Stores in 2024
Nothing surprising here, Macy's and Sears departed both of these long ago: Shenango Valley is a dead mall whose owners want to redevelop the property as a multi-use town center. JCP has been in long litigation to prevent this and recently lost. It's the weakest mall in the Warren-Youngstown area and...

Re: Stop & Shop closures
I'm not aware of any Giant-MD pharmacy closing without the store itself closing. All of the new and relocated stores Giant-MD has built near me have pharmacies in them. Giant-MD is the only super market chain in the DC area that has ever had much in the way of pharmacy market share. The Safeway and...

Re: IKEA Opening New Smaller Format Store in San Francisco
The point of the store is to serve people who aren't going to the suburban locations. It's not meant to serve carbound suburbanites and it makes no sense to approach it that way. It's basically an IKEA version of a retail model that's been a round for a long time. Lot's of furniture stores have had ...

Re: Stop & Shop closures
Bi-Lo was dire. No other word for that chain. Also someone mentioned up thread somewhere about pharmacies being closed in Stop & Shop Stores in some cases. What is that all about. Does Ahold have a tract record of random pharmacy closures too? Albertsons/Safeway have ZERO tract record of pharma...

Re: REI Is Opening 10 Stores in 2024
They've built a variety of sizes for a very long time. The relatively new DC store is a flagship that replaced a 26K sf suburban location that opened in the 80s. The Pike & Rose store in North Bethesda is probably 40K sf and replaced a much smaller store a mile away. They have been doing smaller...

Two pages of mostly speculation, hyperbole and no links. So here's one without a paywall that includes all the ambiguities: https://www.sfgate.com/bayarea/article/ ... 691130.php
