The first new 7–11 in the Phoenix area is being built in Goodyear on Estrella Pkwy South of I-10 (next to a yet to be open Chik-Fil-A with a double drive thru). I don’t know if it is company owned or a franchise, the handful of Phoenix 7-11s are franchises and are mostly dumps.

It wouldn't be an issue if they were planning to sell them to existing companies to expand - that is what they did with a large quantity of the Grand Union stores (to a variety of companies, depending on where they were - Price Chopper, Hannaford, Shaw's, Stop & Shop and probably a couple other...

The truth is that the “Dollar” stores are often the only mass retailer in a lot of small towns-the alternative is the overpriced convenience stores selling mostly junk food. Ma&Pa’s General Store ain’t coming back. Now if the people who run Aldi in the US had any sense, they would start building...
