Re: Target "Self Checkout Hours" 11 AM to 7 PM
No retailer should allow returns without a receipt anymore unless we are talking some real low value type of returns. Like a single item under $5 and in that case you can have an exchange for the same item, not a refund, or credit toward some other brand if you don't like the store brand. The bigge...

Re: Safeway NorCal: 12pk Coke/Pepsi 10.99
Locally my partner went to Safeway to buy soda (normally a Costco purchase), it was buy 2 get 3 free. So yeah, weird markup and again abusing those with small need for soda pop and/or ability to carry it to their residence. I think these manufacturers must only be pushing these kinds of promotions ...

Re: Dollar General Cashierless Store: NC
It is not only well laid out, but it is very well assorted, and has what look like the same prices as any other Dollar General. I see some DSD bread in there, so they must staff at some point to receive DSD. Seems someone would have to stock the shelves every so often anyway (to replace items that ...

Re: Wegmans to close Natick, MA location
It does seem to vary by store size. The Germantown, MD store, which is a full-size location, has a large non-food section but it's stuff you often find in a large super market--housewares, wrapping paper, HBA, etc. Giant is the one chain in the DC area that has a fairly large non-food section based...

Re: Wegmans to close Natick, MA location
In other cases, the second floor is usually non-grocery, such as the case of MEGA MART in the Atlanta area. However, from what I could tell, Wegmans non-food assortment is incredibly weak, even by supermarket standards, so they would've had to basically invent new departments (housewares, etc.) for...

Re: Kroger Switches Store To Self Checkout in Greater Nashville
CA can't really do this due to the liquor sales law. In theory they can but the problem is one misstep from a cashier who lets a customer complete a liquor transaction on self checkout and the store is in deep water with ABC. And by complete I mean, if the cashier does not stay there through tender...

Re: California Grocery Market down 4-5%??
It doesn't really say what is down 4-5% in that section. Could be just the quantity of items sold is lower (since people are paying more per item), maybe in some cases buying one larger package to save a bit over two smaller ones and similar? Rather than it being the amount spent that is down (which...

Re: Grocery Outlet-Inventory levels
Have to consider the fact that all the manufacturers and retailers are back to normal operations too. Supply chains are running well. There is simply going to be less supply of surplus goods, short dated goods, canceled order goods etc. This is also going to become a problem for what was the high f...
