Re: 🛒 Kroger-Albertsons Merger: Mid-Atlantic Impact

I'm very curious to see the list of ten Harris Teeter stores that are proposed to be divested. I want to see how close they are to existing Safeway stores primarily. My initial thought when the merger was first announced was that Kroger would want to offload the Safeway stores since they are not nat...

Re: SHRINK

Yet Sam’s Club has no.problem with their self checkouts. They move faster than the standard checkouts. Could this be because the exit checker at Sam's Club has to scan actual items in your order to allow you to exit the store? They do this same procedure whether self checkout or staffed cash regist...

Re: Best Buy to Discontinue Physical Media

The speculation is that the distributor Best Buy used was indeed the same one that Walmart acquired, so this might not be within their control. This might explain why Walmart.com seems to have much broader selections of new DVDs and BluRay versus an Amazon or another online seller. When I have want...

Re: ShopRite to Exit Albany

Is there something about Shop Rite that causes them not to have huge success when they leave their core NJ market? I know it depends a lot on the operator, however, it seems like Shop Rite struggles if they are not in NJ. Shop Rite has bailed on all but one Price Rite location in the DC/Baltimore ar...

Re: Kroger to merge with Albertsons?

The difference being, people often go to things like McDonalds or other chain restaurants when traveling. Most people (aside from those on a forum like this) aren't going to supermarkets, or if they do it's just because they need something while there (say buy food to keep in the hotel vs. going ou...

Re: Best Buy to Discontinue Physical Media

I always purchase physical media for movies and shows that have great meaning to me. That way I can watch the content at any time without regard to what streaming service has the content, what contract expired or who is arguing with whom over content. Unfortunately, Best Buy is probably going with t...

Re: Target announcing closures in Portland, Ore.; Seattle, Wash.; California; Harlem

They have all of the solutions available but seem to be afraid of attempting to execute them. Too much fear of the past even though there is so much potential ahead. Where does Target's fear of grocery come from? Something historical? Something more recent, maybe in terms of competing with Walmart?...

Re: Kroger to sell 10 Harris Teeter stores in D.C., Virginia and Maryland to Piggly Wiggly owner

Kroger recently (within the last week) rolled out delivery with Harris Teeter (part of Ocado) in the Washington DC area. Really begs the question why they're investing in this if they basically want to discard Harris Teeter in the area anyway. (Unless the merger falls through, of course, then it's ...

Re: Red Robin Attempting Comeback

I have a friend who really likes Red Robin. I end up eating there a lot for this reason. I usually get a Turkey Burger as that seems to be something that is consistent taste wise. I find Red Robin's meat burgers to be average at best. All of the toppings you can get on the various iterations of the ...

Re: Amazon Halts All New Amazon Fresh Just Walk Out Stores

Construction has completed on what is likely an Amazon Fresh store in Fair Lakes Shopping Center near Fairfax, VA. The store was first rumored in 2022 . The completed space has the same facade as the location in the City of Fairfax that opened in 2022. However, there is no actual signage on the stor...
