So with this latest round of closures, what will be the store counts for Sears and K-Mart respectively?

Re: ALDI to add 70 new stores by next year
Wouldn't self checkouts in that kind of operation sort of defeat their business model of high volume orders? Most people who shop at Aldi buy stuff by the cartful and I don't know about you but there's nothing more annoying than someone at a self-checkout with a full basket and scanning those items ...

This is how it looks: This is the Pizza Sauce at Dollar Tree: (for $1 each there) https://www.ebay.com/itm/224103489683 The Salsa at 99 Cents Only has a similar package design; more colorful packages. I actually think these packages look good. Far better than "Value Corner" or the old Saf...

Re: Couche-Tard wants to buy French megaretailer
Walmart's large family ownership stake might save from private equity for awhile, although the Waltons seem like greedheads who'd cash out for the right price, once institutional investors decide that the dividends are hurting the business. Exactly! Stock price is what "the street" looks ...

Re: ALDI to add 70 new stores by next year
As far as cleanliness of the bagging areas during COVID-19, I've thought about that too. The employees at my local store regularly wipe down the checkout lanes, and they provide hand sanitizer and sanitizing wipes at the entrance, but I never see anyone cleaning the bagging areas. Admittedly, being...

So counting the still open stores of the five on the list, that will leave K-Mart with how many locations still operating? I mean just end the charade already and pull the plug for crying out loud! What is left to be gained by this "death by a thousand cuts" strategy?

Re: ALDI to add 70 new stores by next year
If you want basic high quality "staple" goods and not much of anything else and want those items at a good price, then Aldi is the place to shop. And as far as demographics are concerned, I've seen shoppers of all economic backgrounds in their stores. People recognize a good value when the...

Re: Macy's 2021: 45 locations to close by the Summer
The Sangertown Square Mall store is one I'm surprised lasted this long. It was originally a Hess's when the mall opened back in the very early 80's. It then became a Kaufmann's at some point and finally Macy's. Hate to say it, but that mall may be in trouble now because the two-story Penney's recent...

Re: Washington trying again to ban plastic bags
Haven't been in the local Target since probably before Thanksgiving but at the time they were still not charging for bags. Don't know if that's changed since but they were eating the cost up to that point. And of all the stores, their bags are probably the most durable and sturdy ones around. They a...
