Re: Kmart Australia and Guam
The Australian KMart and Target currently are owned by the same company and share back office functions. Many of the Targets were converted to KMart which is quite different from the US operation—-more soft lines and better quality merchandise than US KMarts. The Targets are remarkably similar to U...

Re: Frys Signature Marketplace-Tatum/Shea- Remodel
... The other Fresh Fare/Signature decor is also in use in Fred Meyer stores and I call it Honeycomb. I think that is what they're putting into the Shea/Tatum location. They use a lot of hexagonal honeycomb backgrounds on their graphics and it is very colorful but also does not carry an upscale app...

Re: Frys Signature Marketplace-Tatum/Shea- Remodel
Was the Kosher only center store or did I entirely miss service counters? Maybe it never had service counters for Kosher (like Ralphs or Smiths)? Kosher is packaged and frozen foods. No service departments. As long as I've shopped there it has been packaged/frozen only. ...Also did I miss the Signa...

Re: Frys Signature Marketplace-Tatum/Shea- Remodel
Stopped into the Fry's Signature Marketplace this evening. The decor is OK, but better than anything else I've seen Kroger roll out at Fry's. It is different than the standard Marketplace decor that is being installed at standard Fry's Marketplace stores. The kosher department is still in the center...

Re: Frys Signature Marketplace-Tatum/Shea- Remodel
Last time I visited was shortly after that 2010 article was written. It was truly the best store I've ever seen from Kroger. Looks like typical Kroger declining by degrees. I could only find a handful of pictures of the remodel but it does not look good and certainly I doubt this is what customers ...

Re: Starbucks unions to strike on November 16th
I'm neutral on unions in general. My view is employees who are treated fairly have no reason to unionize. I don't see where Starbucks employees are being treated unfairly. It seems like they are treated a lot better than the average foodservice and retail workers. The union lost me when they stated ...

Re: 🛒 Kroger-Albertsons Merger: Midwest & Plains Impact
You're right - Dominick's was never "upscale." Their perishables, in my experience with their stores on Chicago's north side and in Evanston and Wilmette, were terrible. Apples looked great but were mushy on the inside, fish was spoiled the day I bought it, and meat was iffy. It seemed li...

Re: 🛒 Kroger-Albertsons Merger: Midwest & Plains Impact
Dominick's was never upscale---their base was in middle income suburbs and beyond avoiding the lowest income parts of Chicago, they were never "upscale".. It was simply different in a way that a lot of mid-market stores used to be. Some simply were better at one or more perishable lines a...

Z Gallerie Closing All Stores
After filing for Chapter 11 in October, Z Gallerie is closing its brick-and-mortar stores, according to KTLA.
I was never impressed with their merchandise, aside from some of their framed prints. It always seemed like they were selling the same styles they did back in the early 2000's.

Re: Dutch Bros. Wants To Become A Household Name
The drive thru coffee chain wants to become a household name for morning coffee. They plan to go from 800 stores to 4,000 in 10 to 15 years. They are using a rewards program and discounts. They are very different than Starbucks. Starbucks is all about a huge complicated menu and Dutch Bros. is all ...
