Re: Bon Ton Stores headed on the downswing
Looks like the liquidation process is starting. http://www.syracuse.com/news/index.ssf/2018/04/bon-ton_stores_to_close_report.html Very sad news. Carson, Pirie, Scott was a great store prior to the acquisition by P.A. Bergner, their bankruptcy, and the acquisition by Bon-Ton. Will be very strange v...

Re: Albertsons/Safeway 2018: Openings and Closings
Well, that's definitely the Safeway. There are two major errors in that recent listing though. First, the store has been updated to Lifestyle signage and has had some other remodeling to the front, including a second set of doors, in addition to now also having a gas station. Second, the year built...

Re: Albertsons/Safeway 2018: Openings and Closings
Source please? I have a hard time believing this one. Safeway was originally in the space divided between Baxter Auto Parts and Walgreens, and moved across the road to the present location which was originally built as Food World, which I think was owned by Zupan's and was supposed to be their atte...

Re: Albertsons/Safeway 2018: Openings and Closings

Safeway was originally in the space divided between Baxter Auto Parts and Walgreens, and moved across the road to the present locatio...

Re: Sears/Kmart Death Watch 2018
The last Sears in Chicago is closing: http://www.chicagotribune.com/business/ct-biz-sears-closing-last-chicago-store-20180412-story.html I have a feeling we will be seeing at the very least a few more scattered closure announcements soon. Very interesting since that's where they started out. Both t...

They also have a following in the Phoenix neighborhoods in which they have stores. It is the entire "shop local" thing.

Re: Phoenix Grocery Market Share
I was surprised to see that Sprouts was so low, as their stores are typically very busy. Albertsons (4.8%) and Safeway (13.3%) were counted separately. If they combine the brands into Safeway they would trudge past Walmart's 16.8%. Keep in mind that average transaction size at Sprouts would be lowe...

Phoenix Grocery Market Share
The Phoenix Business Journal published this story about grocery market share. I was surprised to see that Sprouts was so low, as their stores are typically very busy. Albertsons (4.8%) and Safeway (13.3%) were counted separately. If they combine the brands into Safeway they would trudge past Walmart...
