Re: Ralphs evicting Delanos

I agree from the point of view of a depositing bank customer to check these things, but small businesses that are already having trouble getting loans will get that money from whatever bank they can. A lot of smaller banks (which have failed) were the ones opting to loan money to such small business...

Re: Ralphs evicting Delanos

It might be an issue of whatever was loaning money to Delanos. I have seen cases where small businesses had a loan from a bank seized by the FDIC. So the loan is deemed a bad loan and sold off when the failed institution is liquidated. Whoever buys the loan studies it and figures out what to do. In ...

Re: Fresh & Easy's Future Uncertain Says Next Tesco CEO

I'm not sure if it is a turn of events. They have been saying all along they will continue to open stores in CA albeit at a slower pace than originally planned. AZ and NV look to be big question marks at this point. They haven't done well at all in Las Vegas though there are some signs of success in...

Re: CVS Recalls Lead Tainted Bags

The funny part is these bags were a use 4 times and get a $1 Extra Buck deal. It is my understanding that program will soon be going away due to abuse. What works out to essentially a 0.25 credit for a reusable bag in a store where many customers just buy one item and don't take a bag seems like a b...

Re: Save Mart Re-Opening in Modesto

This idea of taking a poorly performing store in a declining area and switching it to a reduced service, lower price, reduced variety format rarely works. Countless companies have tried this and the results have not been good. Albertsons tried it multiple times with Super Saver, Max Foods, Grocery W...

Re: SmartCo Denver closing all stores already!

SO, putting Smart & Final, Cash & Carry, Sun Harvest, Henry's, and whatever other formats they have all under all one roof all hundreds (thousands?) of miles from distribution centers, in stores that were previously low volume Albertsons didn't work? Who would have thought? I'm sorry but I'm...

Re: Albertsons cash register oddity

I would venture a guess this is to help cashiers process competitor coupons. I believe Albertson's OR/WA accepts those some or all weeks and this is a good way to make sure the deduction is accurate. Usually they would scan the item at full price then do a coupon by taking the amount off the item. A...

Re: Ralphs Store Closed: El Cajon

It sounds like theft problems existed here; probably was getting a high enough customer count with a super low average sale per customer. Of course that low average sale per customer dictates low staffing levels since the dollars collected can't support much labor. Low margin sales were also probabl...
