Re: Mercado Gonzalez Northgate opening, "Wegmans" or "Bristol Farms" of Hispanic grocery stores

Looking at the photos I have a few concerns: 1. Spacing on the various food counters - the way this is laid out I feel like a lot of counters will be hidden. There is not a clear line of sight where you can see all of the counters. Or even a fraction of them, at the same time, it appears. 2. Spacin...

Re: Wendy's Franchise Files Bankruptcy

Jack in the Box has always been equal to McDonald's in my, product that barely resembles "food" and the only redeeming quality is that Jack decided to pickup the $1 any size soda promo that McDonald's used to use. The food tastes like it is all fully cooked then frozen and reheated. If yo...

Re: Rite Aid closing at least 63 stores

I can see how they'd like to make an example of Rite Aid to create a precedent that you cannot file bankruptcy to get out of paying us. They already got huge payouts from CVS, Walgreens, and Wal Mart. These states, tribes, etc. went after the largest chains. There are thousands of different groups ...

Vaccine locator cuts off 12/9 at South Lake Tahoe as of today.

Previously it had opened back up for the remainder of the winter.

Vaccine locator throwing lots of funny curve balls when it comes to this particular store.

Re: ALDI to acquire Winn-Dixie

I saw a post on Facebook where Winn Dixie was displaying frozen pies out at room temperature! Seriously? And apparently not in just one store either. Were they like trying to sell frozen cream pies (thaw and serve) as ready to eat? Or were they taking frozen pies and baking them in the bakery? Hard...

Re: Safeway Operations

last time i was at vons in fresno, i noticed that they are starting to phase out the sandwich counter there. they also now have an attendant at all times at the self checkout area to keep the customers honest. NorCal is always hanging on to the old Safeway ways of doing things so I'm sure the sandw...

Re: Rite Aid closing at least 63 stores

Bottom line is the governments involved in this want their money. Period. But in this case I don't think they will be getting it. They are going after a company that is insolvent, hardly owns any real estate (they own maybe 50 stores and a few distribution centers), has a trend of declining sales, ...

Re: 'Target CEO claims customers are saying ‘a big thank you’ for locking up merchandise'

I think we misunderstood what they meant by flexible format. That didn't mean the oddball small stores, of which so few exist I doubt they collectively contribute more than a few hundred million dollars. What they meant was the program I'm talking about with flexible department sizes and formats th...

Re: Wendy's Franchise Files Bankruptcy

Sounds like nothing was paid out in that Wendy's case. It's illegal to not pay out the vacation pay in California, and I think the sick pay sticks around under the newer regulations even though it doesn't pay out if the employee quits. The new regulations are complicated (and really screwed a lot o...
