Re: Dollar General's Popshelf On Fast Track For Expansion

Well I have seen a few posts recently on LinkedIn showing just opened PopShelf stores. Unfortunately looks like Dollar General has "value engineered" the format and downgraded everything from lighting to fixtures to signage. The latest stores look like a Dollar General with lavender signs...

Re: CVS to close 900 stores

CVS has completed another batch of remodels around Reno. Now every store has been remodeled to the white wall-black department sign interior with the exception of the store in Sun Valley (former RA1) which still has the CVS Longs Conversion era interior. What is interesting in this last batch of re...

Re: Save Mart-Reno-Early Voting

In the Austin area, many Randalls locations have hosted polling locations for years. The majority of the time, the polling station is set up in the dining area, or in stores without a dining area, near the front of the store by the pharmacy. Usually, the line extends through the front of the store a...

Re: Kroger to merge with Albertsons?

Kroger has been vague overall in how the merger will shake out and how the company would be structured. We can safely assume that it's business as usual for the Kroger divisions without Albertsons counterparts, like Delta, Nashville, Michigan, or Cincinnati/Dayton. We can safely assume that NorCal ...

Re: Walmart Downsizing Stores?

I was in the Sterling, VA Walmart Supercenter today. The store is located near Dulles Town Center Mall in a large retail area. The store was originally further south off Route 28 at Waxpool Road. They moved to their current location in 2003 to build the first Supercenter in the area. Loudoun County...

Re: Largest Buc-ee's To Be Built in Luling, Texas

The one in Texas will be off the main Houston-San Antonia expressway where it meets one of the routes to Austin. I assume it's a logical place for a comfort stop that has gas and other stuff to sell. In Texas, the routes of Interstates 10, 35, and 45 are known as the "Texas Triangle" and ...

Re: Best Buy and the Smartphone Era

On a different note - Micro Center is a super slow growing chain with only one store in California - Tustin. These stores have all been very dingy and dated looking, with strange dividing walls and small rooms similar to the oldest Circuit City locations. This Tustin store was just fully gutted and...
