Re: Macy's Closing 10 Stores in January 2022

Supposed list of store closings to be announced tomorrow: Macy's Corporate Site Most of these are not surprising, but a couple are. San Jacinto Mall in Baytown has been demolished and is in the process of redevelopment. Originally, Macy's was planned to remain a part of the development, but last yea...

Re: DFW Tom Thumb/Albertsons/MArket Street Observations

Nice store... too bad they got rid of the Albertsons sign. Are there any stores in the Metroplex that still have the Jewel interior? This store had it. Unfortunately, I believe that this was the last location which had it. An Albertsons in north Fort Worth with this decor closed a couple of years b...

Re: DFW Tom Thumb/Albertsons/MArket Street Observations

Over the past couple of weeks, renovation at the Frankford/DNT Tom Thumb in Far North Dallas has finally been completed, and the store definitely feels much cleaner than it was previously. As part of the work, the east entrance was moved to the front wall of the building and made the sole customer e...

Re: The present and future of Randalls

Another Austin Randalls bites the dust. The lease ran out on the West 35th Street store and the land owner is going to demolish the building housing the store and replace it with a mixed-use development. Store is supposed to close for good in early November. https://www.kxan.com/news/local/austin/c...

Re: Macy's Neighborhood Store Watch

Right, but they are branded as Macy's and operated as such. I'm suggesting different branding that would pull in a different demographic. Think Food 4 Less vs Ralphs or Mariano's. The initial Backstage Stores were "outside Macy's" and in larger spaces very much like a Ross or similar and ...

Re: Macy's Neighborhood Store Watch

To speak of this attempt at many directions... Macy's is also closing and retooling their "Market by Macy's" stores in the D-FW metroplex. Macy’s will temporarily close its new small concept store in Southlake Town Square and reopen it with a different focus in the fall, the company said ...

Re: The present and future of Randalls

Another Randalls closure, this time in South Austin: https://www.kxan.com/news/local/austin/randalls-closing-underperforming-store-on-mopac-in-southwest-austin/ This closure is not particularly surprising, as the store has seemed to have perpetually low foot traffic over several visits in the last f...

Re: DFW Tom Thumb/Albertsons/MArket Street Observations

Recent activity update on the Albertsons front: Over the past year or so, multiple legacy Albertsons locations which were badly in need of remodel finally received some attention, including locations at Broadway Blvd/Rowlett Rd in Garland, Montley Dr/Town East Blvd in Mesquite, and 183/Bedford Rd i...

Re: The present and future of Randalls

I was in Houston on Friday and made a stop at several area Randalls to see what things were like; frankly, my experiences were all over the map: The store at Memorial Dr/Beltway 8 (Town and Country) was as packed as I have ever seen it. The customer base was definitely older-skewing, but most had su...
