Re: SHRINK
I am really unsure why the news media has decided in the last year or so that retailers are all lying about theft and shoplifting losses... I'm not exactly sure what the agenda is about here but clearly there is one. Uhm....a pretty broad brush. It's a bit more complex---there's been a shrink narra...

Re: Walmart observations
I looked at the photos and it really looks like Walmart's version of Target. I would never shop at Walmart BUT if they could maintain this, Target is done! I continue to be disappointed with all the Targets in my area. Their OOSs are never ending. Their disrespect and indifference to food is overt ...

Re: JCPenney "Make it Count"
JCP has recently been doing some local sponsorships of events out here in the Coachella Valley--fashion shows etc. specifically for scholarship-type programs which are appropriately on-brand for them ...tbh it's nice to see, and seemingly locally done (specifically touting JCP at Palm Desert Shops)...

Re: Chevron is at it again
My point is the continuing consoliation of everything around us. This is not good in any way. Of course, Hess had already sold off their retail locations (to Speedway), but even when those existed I don't think there was much, if anything Chevron in the same areas. So, a bit different that two chai...

Re: Rite Aid Goes Bust...West Coast Stores??
The number of opioid prescriptions has dropped significantly in the past several years. Norco used to be one of the most commonly filled prescriptions. Now it is rare to get a Norco prescription. The drug distributers are limiting supplies to pharmacies. There are times when the pharmacy can't get ...

Re: Restaurant Fees
Usually the restaurants doing the higher wage/higher price brag about what they are doing as a social experiment and such, and usually they don't allow tipping at all or reduce the amount to 5% or 10% max to not insult customers who really want to compliment the service. There was a rather overpric...

Re: Rite Aid closing at least 63 stores
I think you can amend that to read New York CITY (outside of one that I saw in Rochester). Two locations in the Buffalo suburbs (one apiece in Cheektowaga and Kenmore, each will have at least one store remaining). OK, outside of those three (missed the one and the other wasn't familiar so I figured...

Re: Lunds & Byerlys
In the late 1990's they opened a couple of stores in the Chicago suburbs. I wasn't impressed. Nor was anyone else, as they closed within a few years of opening and were sold to Dominick's. I just wasn't that impressed with this chain. I tried some bakery/deli items and the stuff seemed bland. That'...

I haven't seen any media coverage saying that they will get out from under the lawsuits. It's more than just the federal suit, there are state and local suits, so it's complicated. The possibility of them being able to walk away from the settlement is implied in this article from the New York Times ...

Re: Lunds & Byerlys
I went to Lunds and Byerlys when I was in Minneapolis last year. I was disappointed—the range of prepared foods and bakery seemed rather limited and expensive for what it was. The downtown Whole Foods was a pleasant surprise, in comparison. Caribou got its start in the Twin Cities, but as coffee I d...
