Re: Stop & Shop closures
I wanted to come back here now that there's some further discussion on my blog about this. We have any number of different comments people have left, but as you can see there are some really detailed reports on the NY (Hudson Valley and Long Island/Queens) stores. Overall, it sounds like stocking ha...

Re: 🛒 Kroger-Albertsons Merger: National Impact
I don't want to call Haggen, Andronico's, Kings, and Balducci's worthless but those banners alone I am not sure they could stand alone. There is a reason who those companies sold to Albertsons. They were not exactly thriving. Haggen and King's/Balducci's were in bankruptcy. Andronico's was in somew...

Re: Stop & Shop closures
https://www.abc27.com/local-news/giant-cuts-giant-direct-delivery-jobs-in-camp-hill-company-addresses-future-of-other-locations/ Is this just a 'one off' due to lack of business in that particular area, or will we see them slowly end their own delivery in other areas? Good question. I don't know th...

Re: Stop & Shop closures
I would guess that because of the semi-independent nature of the way Ahold Delhaize chains are run, something has to be rotten at Stop & Shop Supermarket Company in Quincy. In January 2019, as you recall, they were going to scoop up King Kullen and although COVID officially killed it just a mon...

Re: Stop & Shop closures
I went to four more Stop & Shops in Central Jersey today. Maybe it was just a particularly bad day for a particularly bad four stores, but I really feel like we're almost counting down the days here. Once again, all the stores were devoid of any and all customers. Started at Inman Avenue in Edis...

Re: Stop & Shop closures
Not a huge deal, but it sounds like a Stop & Shop in Trumbull, CT is being run poorly enough to have a Change.org petition . Sounds like this store hasn’t been remodeled in the current wave yet. To me, this is a small thing but indicative of the potential for Stop & Shops low standards for s...

Re: 🛒 Kroger-Albertsons Merger: Northeast Impact
Could have been a number of things they did at Kings and Haggen. They bought both assets out of bankruptcy... What is another asset currently in bankruptcy... True. I think, though, because it was connected to them talking about pricing, it was more like that — I think I heard them talking about pr...

Re: 🛒 Kroger-Albertsons Merger: Northeast Impact
Random observation: I was on a commuter train home last night and sat behind three people who appeared to be Albertsons management, probably visiting from elsewhere. They didn't seem to be too familiar with the area or the train system. I did hear them talking about pricing (and now I wish I were pa...

Re: ALDI to acquire Winn-Dixie
I saw those as well but was thinking this was talking about plain unstuffed pasta (aka just linguine, spaghetti etc.), and those didn't seem to be found on the SR site (just the ravioli and such you are referring to). Ah yes, I know those used to be under the ShopRite Kitchen brand (...I think) but...

Re: ALDI to acquire Winn-Dixie
Bought some Bowl and Basket Refrigerated Pasta at Grocery Outlet; Product of Italy. Clean list of ingredients and no added salt. Not a bad product for 0.99. It seems to be selling poorly; they started it at 1.49 then moved it to 0.99; they expire mid April and they have quite a bit left. 5 minutes ...
