Re: Target 2022
So other than already clearancing all Christmas items at 15% off to 30% off, Target is also clearancing its "beauty" gift sets (this also includes things like deodorant, body wash, shaving items, beard items, etc.) at 50% off, but this requires using the app. Also they give you a $10 gift ...

Re: Kroger to merge with Albertsons?
Those times at Vons & Pavilions for me conjure up ONE person, Steve Burd! A reptilian cold hearted tyrant! I don't know what happened, Burd did a good job in the 90's. By the late 00's, I don't know what happened, but it seems like he really became far removed from the people in the business at...

Re: La Jolla Vons to be converted to Pavilions
If the merger goes through, it would be interesting to see what Kroger does with the Pavilions banner. They have never had a proper upscale chain in SoCal. Perhaps some of the Ralphs Fresh Fare locations could be converted to Pavilions, or even the regular Ralphs locations in more well-to-do neighb...

Re: 99 Cents Only
Yeah, I do NOT see any signs down here at all. Perhaps there are some but in a place that is not obvious (or sign may be very small). I had a situation at a very nice Ralphs Fresh fare in Mission Valley about this and had to speak with the Store Director. He honored the guarantee (free for 1) and s...

Re: Rite Aid closing at least 63 stores
I recently visited the Longview, WA Rite Aid, and noticed signs of neglect starting to appear, mainly, the lighting. This store has not converted to LED lighting, and there were a number of scattered burned-out lights as well as several flickering wall displays. This doesn't look good when the stor...

Re: Walmart observations
Saw something that struck me as odd when at my local Walmart today. It appears that, sometime in the last couple months, that they replaced all of the traditional checkstands. These used to have the three racks of bags on a rotating table at the end of the checkstand, they now instead have a small ...

Re: Target 2022
Agreed, they have really let the uniform go. My understanding is that they were supposed to only change the pants - Target used to require khakis but they opened up to allowing jeans. They never have provided a uniform. Employees were told to wear any red shirt and they offered them aggressive disc...

Re: El Pollo Loco
Sort of surprising that places even use those little cups for something like that. They could get ones that are larger (like 4 or 5 oz size) and that would be easier for everyone. They might cost a bit more per cup, but in the end they'd use fewer, so it would even out, plus it would take less time...

Re: Sizzler Sparks, NV Out of Business
I finally went to the Montebello location which reopened earlier this year. It was fully remodeled and is nice looking. They have had some changes compared to the past: First off, self-service drinks. I think they did this to keep servers away from guests. They only really serve your food now and t...
