Safeway Norcal did have some cheap Lifestyle remodels. This was the low budget non-lighted wall decor with cheap posters and cheap lettering on the wall.

Re: California and the upcoming War on Retail
I would say that some residential and commercial mixed together is a more reasonable compromise. They can both coexist. The city of Walnut Creek for example is building tons of condominium mini-towers all over the city. The condo growth has exploded over the past decade. The result is the downtown o...

Re: Holiday Hours Expanding
They should have bandit traps. Some banks have an entrance vestibule where you enter a locked glass room where you are scanned for metal objects. Then the second door only unlocks once you are scanned. With these bullet proof rooms you could trap shoplifters inside and then have them ready for the p...

Re: Safeway NorCal Remodels and New Stores
The Flagship Safeway got a cheapened Florida decor. The floor is in bad shape and overall it looks awful.

Re: Macy's Closing 10 Stores in January 2022
The very posh outdoor mall called Broadway Plaza Walnut Creek, California had 2 Macy's up until a few years ago. One was a former I. Magnin and the other was an Emporium Capwell. That mall is so successful that the sales are out of control. The customers are rich and the stores are crowded. However,...

Re: Short staffed restaurants
I went back to Jack In The Box and they happily offered me free food in return. I was overall satisfied that they made it right in the end.

Holiday Hours Expanding
Target is expanding hours 7 to 12 AM starting Sunday December 5. However, I do not believe that the San Francisco stores will change their hours from 9 to 6 PM. Target stores used to be open 8 to 10 PM at most locations. Walmart is already open 6 AM to 11 PM for the holiday. It was 7 to 11 PM before...

Re: Macy's Closing 10 Stores in January 2022
Macy's is shrewd. If they give advanced warning, some of these malls may offer a discount on rent to make Macy's stay. Some of those malls will be doomed if they lose a major anchor such as Macy's. Many malls are barely hanging on. Once Macy's leaves the malls will get little traffic.

Re: Short staffed restaurants
No refund was issued. The only option is to go to the restaurant and ask them to remake the food for you for free. This is a whole bunch of trouble.

Re: Speedway/7-Eleven integration
I saw a very busy 7-Eleven location in the San Francisco Bay Area near Oakland close recently. It is a bad neighborhood, but it was at a busy intersection across from a Walmart. It did not sell gas. Perhaps it was the homeless people or the panhandlers? Or maybe it was just too many convenience stor...
