Re: Amazon Fresh, take 2

Interesting that they are keeping Just Walk Out at the Amazon Go stores. Perhaps it works better in small format, or perhaps they are planning to use those stores to keep trying to improve the technology.

Re: Meanwhile in Canada, they're building Malls

The weather is probably also a factor. There is higher demand for indoor malls in places where it is too cold to walk around outdoors for a portion of the year.

Re: In & Out

Probably the same way they feel when they hear "Merry Christmas" the whole month of December... but it is easy to go ahead and delete/disregard the e-mail and be done with it. Throughout December you have no idea when you may be hit with a "Merry Christmas." To be fair, there's ...

Re: Here come the price increases!

So really the joke is on everyone who was picketing for these big wages, because most of the raise is going out the door to the IRS and FTB as soon as it becomes anything close to a "living wage" negating the entire activity. Taxes are marginal. If a single person is making 50k a year, th...

Re: Here come the price increases!

I do not understand why these chains do not understand what an issue drink pricing is and how it upsets/annoys customers. 2.99 for a fast food drink is simply too high. Wendys still has a 16oz drink at .99 here and Jack in the Box has a 16oz drink at 1.79 (just increased) but you cannot order eithe...

Re: 🛒 Kroger-Albertsons Merger: National Impact

I do wonder would it have worked out differently if Haggen had warehouses, or would it have been the same end result? My (speculative) feeling is that it would have been the same. Haggen had no trouble getting products on the shelves. Their problem was high pricing, poor IT, and a lack of understan...

Re: 🛒 Kroger-Albertsons Merger: National Impact

Stater is probably not interested in expanding to new markets, and is not an acceptable buyer for most SoCal stores because that would reduce competition. No, a closed, boarded up store subleased to a random fitness center that is under contract to remove and destroy or render permanently inoperabl...

Stater is probably not interested in expanding to new markets, and is not an acceptable buyer for most SoCal stores because that would reduce competition. Raley's might have been interested if they weren't preoccupied with Bashas. Save Mart I thought would have been a candidate, not sure what happen...

I think that's the intention, and it seems to have worked on you. Businesses implement junk fees hoping that you will blame politicians instead. Just like Spirit Airlines' "Unintended Consequences of DOT Regulations" fee.
