Re: 7-Eleven to buy Stripes

The problem is with 7-Eleven's US Store Network. If they tried to run many of these stores as corporate operated sites they'd end up shutting down because they would lose money. The franchise model works because the franchisee, franchisee's spouse, and other family members/friends of the franchisees...

They don't even have a now hiring sign up... (like almost every other service business has- many now advertising the hourly wage).

Re: 7-Eleven to buy Stripes

7-Eleven has a new store in Ridgefield, WA only a few months old. It is not an "evolution store" but it is twice the size of a usual 7-Eleven. I went in when it must have been on or near opening day. They had lots of employees, various dispensed beverage equipment all in working order, cle...

Re: Coronavirus and Empty Restaurants

Probably due to a 29% spike in Covid cases (per Johns Hopkins). I am pretty sure many states at this point would not close anything else down or impose any new restrictions. Between states that flat out need the money, defiant citizens, or politicians scared of a recall, there seems to be a big pus...

Lots of fast food chains like that too. Swensen's Ice Cream, Kenny Rogers Roasters, probably many more.

Re: Coronavirus and Empty Restaurants

In California, our coronavirus cases some of the lowest in the country. The restaurants are open for indoor dining, and business is up. In the middle of next month all restrictions will be removed. The folks in Oregon probably thought restrictions were being removed too- and now the indoor dining i...

Re: Raleys converting Reno Store to ONE Market Format

This store will reopen 5/1. I was in the shopping center during the day this week and Raleys is sure putting out an effort on the conversion. In addition to what looked like hundreds of people inside working on the conversion, and security guards outside, they had tables at each of the entry doors t...

Re: Boston Market

Tried Boston Market again tonight. The handwritten misspelled sign was replaced with a typed properly spelled sign which says the same thing- so inside continues to be closed and it is still drive through only. This is getting to be a bit much. Chickfila has or is about to re-open dine in, has alrea...

Re: Is 2021 finally the end for Sears/Kmart?

Maybe Kmart finally ended their contract with C&S. If so, about time they did. Their contract with C&S might go back to the Fleming days (Fleming had a huge relationship with Kmart, and C&S is more or less "New Fleming"). I mean, who goes to Kmart to buy groceries anymore (wel...

I haven't been in Plaid Pantry for years. Dari Mart in Eugene is decent, as are the Lil' Pantry stores.
Dari Mart is very, very similar to Plaid Pantry. Almost would say they are affiliated if I didn't know otherwise.
