Re: Wegmans to close Natick, MA location

Well, looks like Wegmans has some problems now. Multiple cancelled locations, The Pub gone, post-pandemic cutbacks, no new territory, no new pharmacies, and now this.

Re: Crucial times for Shoppers

UNFI sold Smith Avenue in Baltimore and the Fairfax, VA location to Safeway in 2021. At that time they also closed the Crofton, MD location. Shoppers closed Manassas in 2021 which became Giant. And now the Perring Plaza store. Landlords aren't looking at some far off potential openings in Southern ...

Re: Crucial times for Shoppers

Who knows how long that commitment will last. UNFI said that it wanted out of running the retail stores. If I'm a landlord and I had Giant knocking on my door I'm taking it. At least with Giant you know that Ahold is committed to the business and you don't have to worry about a sudden change in dir...

Re: Kroger appears to be back in the "Marketplace" business: New store in Heber, UT

Kroger has still been chugging along with Marketplaces lately, mostly at their Rockies divisions (Fry's, Smith's, King Soopers) with at least two opened in the past year.

Re: Crucial times for Shoppers

I wonder if Shoppers wanted to be losing this store of if they were forced out by the landlord/outbid for the space. I can't blame the landlord if Giant is interested in the space, for going with getting Giant into the space. There is no telling when UNFI may decide to close Shoppers again. BizJour...

Re: Nordstrom Rack Rebranding & Expanding

The new Nordstrom Rack logo looks like it says Crack instead of Rack. I can't believe they paid a company to design this new logo and marketing campaign. The company is opening 5 new stores in California including one in Davis, California. I'm sorry but Davis is a middle of nowhere town surrounded ...

Re: TransformCo (Sears/Kmart) Official Thread 2023: Finally the end?

Looks like there are some shifts going on over at Kmart. The Miami Kmart store has different items like price tags, and is reportedly launching its own website soon.

Re: Target 2022

I visited the the large store on Western and Sunset in East Hollywood CA. Wonderful parking (90 minutes free with validation). The store was packed with people loading up their carts and also many with hand baskets. 12 self checkouts all being used. 6 of the 12 regular checkstands operating with pe...

Re: Burger King to close 26 southeast Michigan locations including 12 in Detroit, 2 in Flint

More Burger King closures have been announced. The majority of these 27 closures are in Minnesota and Utah, with 3 locations each in Montana and Nebraska and a location each in Kansas, North Dakota and Wyoming getting the axe as well. All of these are owned by Meridian Restaurants Unlimited, which ...

Re: Giant Eagle loses #1 Share in Pittsburgh- Wal Mart now #1

One impediment to entering the Pittsburgh market is related to the comment I made about Wegman's---the surrounding markets are not doing well which would limit the distrubtion opportunities. Beyond that Kroger, frankly, doesn't bring much to the table. The Giant Eagle's I've been too are as bland a...
