Re: Oxnard's only Ralphs closing May 2024
I am not sure of that. Ralphs still has 184 stores. I think they may still be the top banner. The fact that we are even having this discussion validates your point as to the complete mismanagement of Ralphs that has occurred... while other regions of Kroger have done very well and hardly close any ...

Re: San Francisco Centre Renamed To Emporium Centre
When you hear San Francisco Centre you immediately think homeless, crime, robberies, drug addicts, etc. They probably just wanted to get the San Francisco name off of the building. Some companies just might want to open up in the shopping center if it has no connection to the tarnished San Francisc...

Re: Dollar Tree To Raise Prices To $7
I actually see a lot of people buying items that cost more than 99 Cents, at 99 Cents Only... it surprises me... I do not see this stuff that is priced above 1.25 selling at Dollar Tree much. I am seeing some of the Easter candy selling but the refrigerated food is not moving. I think these higher ...

Re: Aldi announces 800-store expansion as it completes Southeastern Grocers acquisition
I wonder why Kroger wants to keep F4L and not sell that banner off to C&S in the merger. There are too many reports of underperforming F4L Stores in SoCal on this board. What I saw in IL was a joke and clearly underperforming F4L too. C&S has these franchise F4L Stores in NorCal/Central CA ...

Re: 🛒 Kroger-Albertsons Merger: National Impact
The only correlation that HEB does not have to Publix is that they have not been able to replicate the formula outside their home state. I do not expect that to continue much longer, as I think they are itching to expand somewhere again outside Texas and northern Mexico. They tried to expand into L...

Re: 🛒 Kroger-Albertsons Merger: National Impact
It seems to be that this merger would have had a better chance if they had divested to other retailers? Like in California, divesting to Save Mart with a rebrand of the stores to Lucky. In Washington, Oregon, Idaho and Alaska, divesting QFC and Carr’s to URM, the owner of Rosauers would have made s...

Re: Gelsons Laguna Beach closing
I don't think it is successful though; the store has a very low customer count from what I've seen. The other issue is Smart & Final isn't really even any deal... Vons would be a better deal a lot of the time... Smart & Final is good for its consistency. The prices aren't great, but they ar...

Re: Rite Aid closing at least 63 stores
I replied to an ad and spoke to a recruiter. They did not give the name of the retailer but from the description, it can't be anyone other than Rite Aid. The ads were posted by a company called "Frontline Media Solutions". I couldn't determine who has contracted them, but the person I spok...

Re: Whole Foods To Open 7,000 Square Foot Stores
I thought the small store fad died in the 2000s. Walmart abandoned "Marketside", Safeway/Vons gave up on "The Market", and of course Fresh & Easy was a colossal failure.
But someone has to keep throwing money at it hoping they figure it out...

Re: 🛒 Kroger-Albertsons Merger: National Impact
It's obvious that Stop & Shop is struggling , and while it looks like the other banners seem to be doing really well, I see signs that the company overall is struggling. We have the closure of home-delivery fulfillment warehouses in NJ and throughout Giant-MD , some as new as just three months ...
