Re: Gerrity's joins Wakefern
From my experiences, and especially since they became part of Wakefern, not really. Maybe a slightly expanded offering of prepared food items (something ShopRite stores don't to be too terribly great at). I know the stores around the few college campuses in Philly did a very good hoagie/sandwich bu...

Re: Walgreens Decides Not To Sell Boots
Walgreens it will not sell the U.K. chain Boots. The market has frightened away potential buyers. It might have brought in 6 billion dollars if Boots were sold. With the higher Interest rates we are going to see the deal environment get a lot tougher. Not sure what this means for Walgreens though. ...

Re: CVS and Rite Aid Limiting Emergency Contraceptives
The irony is most of what is left of Rite Aid operates in states where Abortion laws are not even changing and not impacted by this at all. People are incredibly ignorant about this. Also never realized the quantity of abortions that must be taking place on a daily basis until I started to watch the...

Re: Employees Want To Fight Back
If employees are being beaten up, employees should be allowed to defend themselves and fight back. Most of the time if an employee lays a hand on a customer they are terminated. There is no flexibility. The reason as to why is because there's so much bad press in fighting back against customers and...

Re: Bed Bath & Beyond CEO Is Out
I talked to so many people the past couple years who were unhappy with Bed Bath and Beyond. These were people who were ready to drop $200-$300 immediately on some product, which they thought they could get at that store, then they went in and could never find what they needed. Worst, the items in qu...

Re: Chevron Selling Headquarters In San Ramon
How can you tell if a Chevron is corporate or not? I saw a really ugly Texaco across from a Chevron that has the signs cheaply covered up regarding the auto shop there. I saw another with a gigantic American flag and flagpole visible for miles. Perhaps that was corporate run. Usually the stations w...

Re: Stater Bros. New Decor - back to the 80s?
https://www.supermarketnews.com/executive-changes/stater-bros-promotes-bertha-luna-senior-vice-president And this type of promotion is exactly why Stater keeps ticking along successfully. Someone who started as a bagger, was a store manager in the 1999 Lucky/Albertsons divest mess, and kept moving a...

Re: Chevron Selling Headquarters In San Ramon
The restaurants in San Ramon have been hit hard. Many restaurants have closed. Many people are working from home. The outdoor mall complex called The Lot across the street from Chevron's corporate office opened up just before COVID and is only busy on weekends. Downsizing at this Chevron office com...

Re: Chevron Selling Headquarters In San Ramon
Houston has historically been the corporate headquarters of the domestic oil industry. Chevron was a bit of an outlier being headquartered in California. We will see if they officially move to Houston, or keep a downsized headquarters in San Ramon. But honestly, this is the new post-COVID reality i...

Re: Supply chain issues in the Northwest easing?
In Oregon and Washington, Walmarts are not well stocked in food. It's like they just don't care about their NW stores. No retailer is really afraid of them anymore. The Walmart that seems to do well is their Neighborhood Market in the Murrayhill area. They lucked out with a location surrounded by m...
