Re: Private label products being sold at other chains
My local Albertsons is carrying Kroger-branded hot chocolate K-Cup pods. Shelf price is $5.99 but they’re on sale for $4.99. Meanwhile, Ralph’s is charging $6.99 shelf, $6.29 sale. One of the few items cheaper at Albertsons, is a Kroger brand... I've found a couple Sprouts items at Safeway lately i...

Re: Amazon Fresh Irvine Now Open
Wholesale egg pricing in California (especially Southern) have trended about twice that of the national average since the humanity law was passed. That said, wholesale prices have settled in the past two years (sans that during the grocery rush following COVID) to around $1.50-$1.75 for a dozen lar...

Re: FedEx will no longer make Amazon deliveries
New scheme seems to be Amazon ships it via UPS then UPS transfers it to USPS for delivery.

Re: Coronavirus Fears and Empty Supermarkets
Went to Smiths tonight. New signs posted which appear to be corporate issue signs as I saw them in two different locations "limit 2 per item in the following categories: paper products, hand soap, ..." I forget what else. I asked an employee and they said it was limit 2 per actual item not...

Re: Pet Valu closing all US Stores- liquidation sales start immediately
I see more and more boxes and packages of pet food delivered to homes and apartments all over the place. I am talking stacks of it. You've got that right and I can personally attest to that being a retired Letter Carrier. I had a customer who ordered cat litter of all things from Amazon. Huge boxes...

Not a bad looking store but would think Market Street would be a more productive format to use.architect wrote: ↑November 5th, 2020, 10:36 pm After numerous delays, this store is finally open:

Re: Coronavirus and Plastic Bag Bans
Found Safeway, Dollar General, and Wal Mart in NorCal all back to using thin plastic bags again this week. All of these stores had thick bags again last month. Wal Mart actually had a combination of the thick bags and the thin bags, no fee for either. Safeway appears to be sending thick bags pretty ...

Re: Friendly's Files For Bankruptcy
I wondered why Safeway NorCal discontinued the Friendly's Sundae Cups. Perhaps unrelated as I would expect the Friendly's brand to live on for ice cream after the bankruptcy is figured out even if the restaurants do not. The 2.50 price point they had was pretty steep given those are a dollar store i...

Re: Acme
Paso Robles is the northern-most store with the Albertsons banner. Actually, the northernmost SoCal Albertsons is Ridgecrest (the older store in Northern Ridgecrest). This store has a repaint of blue-gray with Jewel interior aisle hangers. This store is in dire need of a remodel, inside and out. I'...

Re: Pet Valu closing all US Stores- liquidation sales start immediately
Pet ownership is at an all time high. I would think that pet stores would have booming business at this time. I go into Petsmart and Petco frequently. Petco is routinely dead and empty of customers in every location I go into. I don't understand how Petco stays in business, though looking at its pr...
