Westfield announces UTC San Diego Mall Expansion
Westfield is continuing to invest in UTC San Diego, one of their best properties worldwide. They are redeveloping the former Nordstrom property that was demolished a few years ago after the larger replacement store opened. They will be opening the new mall expansion in phases starting in 2026. They ...

Re: Aldi lists job openings at multiple warehouses and nearly 30 stores in Northern California
I think the 99 Only and Rite Aid closures will be a real estate jackpot for Aldi. Many of those SoCal Rite Aids are in that 22k square foot range (former Thrifty units) with the grocery co-anchor long gone so I expect Aldi can move in. I do not think Aldi is a good addition to the market but it is ...

Re: Hy-Vee buying Strack & Van Til
Totally irrelevant post from someone not familiar with the area or company, but the pictures of the stores look very good. They appear to be a very good operator, and the description of the deal sounds sincere when they promise not to screw it up or change it excessively. And the name, which I hadn'...

Re: Rite Aid closing at least 63 stores
Are any of those stores that look so bad ones that were on the potential closings list but then they worked out with the landlord to keep them? Thinking that the one in this area that has more of this issue (though it did have quite a bit of stuff in the seasonal section, so "new" stuff w...

Re: Red Lobster Considering Bankruptcy Filing
ClownLatch brings up some excellent points. I don’t agree chains have a natural flight — many (Denny’s,, Chili’s, Friday’s, etc.) have a managed to stay revelant even as their peers perished. And Texas Roadhouse continues to grow and thrive while Outback does the opposite… even though Texas Roadhou...

Re: Express files for bankruptcy, plans to close nearly 100 stores as investor group looks to save the brand
And just like basically every other mall brand the malls are going to be the owners. This bizarre concept in which the mall becomes a giant landlord operated department store is not going to work long term.

Re: 🛒 Kroger-Albertsons Merger: National Impact
To be clear, when I say accurate I mean well thought out, thoroughly deliberated. I don't believe that is the case. In fact I am still not convinced that they even have final lists of stores internally after this. They're acting very high level and we've seen when this garbage happens - we get the ...

Re: 🛒 Kroger-Albertsons Merger: National Impact
I wonder if they're making changes to the store banner mix to make it easier for C&S? So for example in California make it mostly Albertsons branded stores that go to C&S if they were choosing between unloading a Ralphs or a Vons or an Albertsons in a particular neighborhood? Obviously they...

Re: Burlington closing Carson City, NV location
Hobby Lobby will do great in this location. It will probably be the end for the Jo Ann in Carson though. And I'm not sure if the Michaels will survive either in their current location. Maybe they could try to relocate. I've never seen a Michaels close after a a Hobby Lobby opens. They are next door...

Re: 🛒 Kroger-Albertsons Merger: National Impact
Are they even serious about this anymore? They are now proposing to divest FEWER stores in CA than they previously were. However they will now be divesting ALL Albertsons/Vons/Safeway/Pavilions in CA. Previously it said they'd be divesting some Ralphs/F4L/FCO Stores. Interesting change there. They ...
