Re: Rite Aid closing at least 63 stores
I increasingly suspect the liquidators looking for sign walkers are being lined up by a separate potential buyer. Either CVS or Walgreens. This behavior is not typical of a bankruptcy ordered liquidation stemming from a liquidator bid. The liquidators don't like to spend their own money unless neces...

Re: IKEA Opening New Smaller Format Store in San Francisco
The point of the store is to serve people who aren't going to the suburban locations. It's not meant to serve carbound suburbanites and it makes no sense to approach it that way. It's basically an IKEA version of a retail model that's been a round for a long time. Lot's of furniture stores have had...

Re: Macys Union Square closing
I am wondering if the Union Square store was basically a consolation prize to activist investors. It has been claimed that the Herald Square store, if sold, would be worth more than the entire company's valuation, so I'm sure there is tremendous pressure from certain investors to sell it. Perhaps s...

Re: Lack of Whole Foods North County San Diego
Gelsons seems to have a niche customer but nothing I've ever tried there has impressed me. I've tried various fresh products. I've never gotten anything bad, but everything is just okay. I don't think I've ever waited in line for check out and the interactions have ranged from very professional to ...

Re: Mercado Gonzalez Northgate opening, "Wegmans" or "Bristol Farms" of Hispanic grocery stores
I finally made the trek down behind the Orange Curtain (I'm around 45 miles away) on a rainy President's Day Monday. It was everything that has been described here, but I hope it's not going to become a victim of its own success and end up like that famous saying, "No one goes there anymore --...

Re: Rite Aid closing at least 63 stores
Is there possibly a city ordinance for no sign walkers in West Hollywood? Mammoth Lakes doesn't appear to be looking for sign walkers either... extremely high volume store there... I can't find evidence of any city ordinances prohibiting sign walkers in either city ("town" for Mammoth). E...

Re: IKEA Opening New Smaller Format Store in San Francisco
I've read this new San Francisco Ikea does not offer free parking or even validated parking with a purchase. There is a $20 parking fee at least on weekends. What is odd is the parking garage is attached to the building and Ikea owns the building. So why charge customers who purchase for parking? h...

Re: Macys Union Square closing
I agree this is 100% a San Francisco issue this store is closing. The men's store consolidation was disappointing and I guess was a sign of what was to come. I'm sure the mayor hopes Macys will change its mind. I don't see that happening. It strikes me as an odd time to sell though. But selling is ...
