Re: Food shortages?
I think this might be specific to ALDI. I was in one of their stores twice last week and in-stock conditions were terrible. I was also in a Vons, Ralph’s and Costco during the same week and didn’t see any inventory issues.

Re: New labor contract for Food4Less/Foods Co. employees
I wonder what exactly is included in that count of 98 stores. I don't think that includes the Sacramento/Bay Area FoodsCo. I wonder if it includes Fresno/Tulare. Maybe it includes Bakersfield and Santa Maria. I'm not 100% sure if the stores in the bay area are included. IIRC there are only a few in...

Re: Safeway (Canada) and Sobeys try dimming lights
In the 90s, I once went to a Petrini's or Lunardi's that did not have fluorescent lights on the ceiling. It was very dark and the store had a green glow from ambient lighting. I found it to be very soothing. In the late 70's and early 80's recessed incandescent lighting was popular on new-build sup...

Re: Costco installing self-checkouts at more locations
At my Costco they installed them in the middle of the checkstand bank which seems odd to me. But, there is a benefit. Customers have to enter through the front corner and then generally finish shopping on the other side of the store. The line at self-checkout always seems to be longer which causes a...

They're on practically every corner in the Philippines. I didn't think their food was that great but have never been to one of their U.S. restaurants.

Re: Gelson's Opening New Store in West L.A.
You are correct. It's Olympic, not Wilshire. Thanks for catching that.CalItalian wrote: ↑June 7th, 2021, 12:22 am
You have the wrong intersection. It's Olympic and Bundy.

Gelson's Opening New Store in West L.A.
Gelson's is opening a new 36,000 sq. ft. store at the corner of Wilshire & Bundy in West L.A. at the former site of Martin Cadillac. It will be part of a large complex that also includes 600 apartments and 200,000 sq. ft. of office/retail space. I think this will be the first store authorized by...

Re: New Safeway for Reno
At this point these 7 stores in Nevada are the only ones that Albertsons is driving stuff out of California to supply. Maybe it is too few stores to even care. Eventually the increased regulations of products specific to CA and other costs will force the decision. Also the situation on the roads be...
