Re: Baker City, OR to get a second Safeway

I don't understand the logic here. Unless they are purposely trying to keep any and all competition out. It is very hard to respect a company that, due to its size, should be offering lower prices, and now seems to be flaunting the fact they got around antitrust laws in that they are taking back ma...

Re: Integration of Albertsons and Safeway

Update on the DFW Tom Thumb lighting updates: many more stores have received revamped lighting, with locations featuring the old dim Lifestyle lighting becoming much more few and far-between (most remaining stores are either small or low-volume). Also, I have been able to decode Albertsons' reasoni...

Re: Sears Holdings to close 78 MORE stores

http://www.twice.com/news/retail/sears-quietly-launches-first-kenmore-branded-tvs/61947 Looks like Sears is trying one last attempt Sadly the Kenmore brand isn't what it used to Be Also mentioned was a Die Hard branded tire. Sears would have been better off to offer the Roadhandler brand again, esp...

Re: Sears Holdings to close 78 MORE stores

To save on labor costs (I assume), the Sears located in the Lloyd Center Mall in central Portland is now closing at 8 pm. The anchor is owned by Sears so it's possible they are not held to the mall's hours of operation, but it was a shock on a recent visit to hear that the store was closing at 7:45...

Re: Rite Aid locations with Osco interiors

I never remember Osco having a cosmetics counter but that may pre-date me. Longs had them, down to the end in some stores. That Boise store I showed the photos of was a really large store, very large for Skaggs/Osco and seemed more like a Payless than a Skaggs/Osco. The different format makes sense...

Re: Rite Aid locations with Osco interiors

Here is that Boise store in all its horror: let's see: Payless wall, Rite Aid aisle hangers, what I assume is an Osco floor, Skaggs pharmacy in the background, and that lit up thing with flowers I have no clue where that came from: I have not been inside that store in many, many years. I think the ...

Re: Rite Aid locations with Osco interiors

I just pulled photos from 2009 of the 7020 W. State St. Rite Aid in Boise and it looks like it has a Skaggs floor/layout with Payless early 90's walls. I have no clue who put the light box with flowers up which looks like an absolute horror but assume it must be from Skaggs too. Did you post the pi...

Re: Target to close 11 stores before year end

I expect we will see Target exit a lot of smaller medium sized markets in the central US. They seem to be out of touch with those markets. My observation is Target just doesn't do real well in rural medium sized markets. I think the poor hardlines mix is the culprit. Target strikes me as the ideal ...

Re: Rite Aid locations with Osco interiors

Boise has a couple of Skaggs-turned Osco-turned Payless-Turned Rite Aid locations. One which may still have an Osco or Skaggs interior is the one at State Street & Gary Lane. The one near 16th & State has been updated on the interior. I do not think any of the Boise Rite Aid stores opened as...
