Re: Walmart removing jewelry counters?
In the past week, I visited a relatively new Walmart in Tumwater, WA, and noticed that the jewelry counter has been eliminated from this store, while maintaining a small section of cheap jewelry. I haven't seen this occurring elsewhere in my area, but am wondering if this is in response to the dire...

Giant Eagle Market District
Despite some indifferent at best experiences with Giant Eagle in Ohio, I decided to take a look at their Market District in Carmel, IN outside Indianapolis. This is a very nice store. It is also a very well executed store. The perimeter areas looked fantastic. The produce looked to be very top quali...

Re: Jungle Jim
Okay, I got to go to Jingle Jim. Words cannot describe my 2+ hour visit to the store located east of Cincinnati. I guess that was the former Bigg's. The store is Supervalu supplied. Very well staffed, I found employees in many of the international foods aisles and the perimeter areas were all very h...

Re: Raleys to buy 6 of 8 remaining Scolaris Stores
Scolaris replaced the building sign on the Sparks Store this week. It was a very old faded "food and drug company" sign and has been replaced with a "food company" sign.

Burlington Store Downsizes
A year or so ago, the (previously expanded) Reno Burlington was downsized pretty significantly. This is an old Breuner's Furniture Store (odd low ceilings) but the expanded area was previously a connected mall (had normal high ceilings). So they gave up a good chunk of the expanded area and kept all...

Re: Fred Meyer locked up ethnic haircare
At the Gateway Fred Meyer (NE 102nd Ave), the company has locked up their "multi-cultural" hair and personal care products. KOIN.com (orignal story) So far remained a local story on one TV station, other than being picked up by a blog site in Atlanta, GA. ... this story reminds me of nega...

Re: Raleys "find a rock" promotion
I was in the Fernley Raley's yesterday afternoon. The store looks very clean and orderly, and the items in the fresh departments look fresh, but the merchandising is pathetic. They have filled up various empty shelf spaces all over the store with paper products. The produce, meat, bakery, and deli l...

Re: Kroger to phase out plastic bags at all stores
I’m sure the cost of the bags are baked into the delivery fee, but technically they’re not bound to the bag fee because it’s classified as a delivery service. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk That is interesting. Safeway.com charges bag fees for home delivery orders... I am not surprised they charg...

Re: Kroger to phase out plastic bags at all stores
Last time I checked, Kroger doesn't even have handles on their bags. Funny it's Kroger pulling this and not Albertsons, as Kroger has more stores in rural/conservative areas. Chain-wide is a horrible idea, they're going to get massacred by Publix in the East Coast. If you’re talking about paper, th...

Re: Kroger to phase out plastic bags at all stores
In the old days most grocery store paper bags didn’t have handles They also did not accept credit cards. I know that Food 4 Less in California is no longer accepting Visa cards but imagine the hilarity if all Kroger stores stopped accepting credit cards. Also, and this is nitpicking somewhat, but o...
