Re: Proposed and delayed WinCo in Centralia, WA
I think the WinCo pricing on non foods makes senee. They know their customer is going to shop for the lowest price and they cannot achieve economy of scale in those categories where the customer is already shopping Walmart, Target, Costco or Sam's. They carry them for convenience purposes only and ...

Re: Rite Aid closing at least 63 stores
Odd question. Any chance some of this problem is related to wildly bad forecasting and logistics planning? I ask this because I've seen the aftermath of even one store in an underserved area closing, then the next closest store becomes overwhelmed with customers and the in stock rate plummets. Base...

Re: Guam Donki now open
I can't imagine either Target or Walmart going into Guam. I would say Wesfarmers is the best candidate. They could continue to use the brand name and they are also geographically closer. But this is all speculation. Most likely, if and when Transformco decides to pull the plug, it will sit vacant f...

Re: JCPenney Refresh
JCPenney is spending $1 Billion on store refreshes and remodels to improve their shopping experience according to Brookfield. I doubt any department store chain has made a comparable investment in years. Also doubt it will be enough to address all the deferred repairs. It will be interesting to see...

Re: JCPenney Refresh
Unfortunately I am getting the same error others are complaining about when I try to upload photos. Is there anything that can be done about this? I would prefer not to link to Yelp or Google reviews. Ended up having to use my own domain to host the photo. :| I was trying to go back to old posts an...

Re: Save Mart-South Carson Street Carson City, NV
It seems somehow Save Mart has the lease on this thing until ... 2055! But they seem to want out early. Cannot believe Albertsons would have arranged for a lease through 2055. This store has been performing poorly from the day Save Mart took it over (it already wasn't doing very well as Albertsons)....

Re: 🛒 Kroger-Albertsons Merger: National Impact
Exactly. I'm not convinced the FTC/DOJ would have sued if the states weren't taking action. There were too many suspicious events occurring such as the political opposition on TV being concentrated on a few politicians from states where either none or only one of the companies operated. I think the...

Re: Red Lobster Considering Bankruptcy Filing
Many of the closures seem to be in smaller/medium type markets. I am a little surprised they were in some of these markets in the first place. I think they should reconcept themself. Similar to the Jerrys-Black Bear re-concepting decades ago. Throw out all the frozen food, start to make food fresh, ...

Re: Did Carl's Jr on Sierra College Granite Bay ever have a playground??
I don't think it ever had an indoor playground, but it seems like it was designed for one. There used to be tables / seating in that room but it has been inaccessible to customers and windows covered/tinted sometimes, that seems to come and go, but last time it was visible it was just a big odd open...
