Re: Whataburger expanding to North Carolina

ClownLoach wrote: March 27th, 2024, 4:54 pm Did anyone notice they opened one on the strip in Las Vegas?
Panda Express is a franchisee on that one.

They aren't participating in mobile ordering or the Whataburger app.

Looks very legitimate other than that. Unlike those Las Vegas White Castles...

Re: 🛒 Kroger-Albertsons Merger: National Impact

I doubt C&S is out, I think this just gets them more stores. They have a signed purchase agreement and until FTC formally denies them as a buyer I do not see them going away. Great deal for C&S. If I were them no way I'd be "out" with the bargain price... If C&S does go away I ...

Re: Rite Aid closing at least 63 stores

It looks like they've reached a bankruptcy settlement. Hopefully they exit rapidly. We should hear confirmation of this today or tomorrow. Interesting that the news reports specifically of settlements with both the DOJ and McKesson. My only concern is if that means they are going to have to cash ou...

They are telling CO that the number of divests is increasing. They think this will get CO to drop its lawsuit against the merger. https://www.msn.com/en-ae/money/companies/colorado-s-bid-to-halt-kroger-albertsons-merger-set-for-august-hearing/ar-BB1kwqUz "An attorney for Kroger, Matthew Wolf, ...

Re: Trader Joe's opening in northern Idaho

Seems to be quite a theme here of negative comments on in-stock conditions at Trader Joe's...

And the other thing is due to the limited assortment if they are out of stock on something, there is often not another suitable alternative...

Re: Trader Joe's adding another Salt Lake City, UT store

The Pep Boys service operations are not closing, in fact they keep buying independent Midas and other franchises and converting them to the brand. The retail operation was killed under Carl Icohn. Most of the California stores went to Advance Auto Parts who just split the building in half and took ...

Re: Restaurant Fees

Perch (rooftop bar in downtown LA) now has a 4.5% "security fee". Did you ask about what that fee was and if it was optional? I am curious how they would describe the exact use of a "security fee." I probably wouldn't have asked at the end of the visit to a bar to the server who...

We will see how this works.

I'll keep my thoughts to myself.

But I can definitely see how both parties see this as a positive.

Ultimately the customer will decide if this product is worth it.

Re: Macys Stores Closing by 2026

I continue to be surprised that the company hasn't been consolidating the men's / home / kids / backstage stores with their main stores in some markets. I figured some of the 150 would come from that, but it's obvious many of the full-line stores needed to go. Some do seem ripe to be replaced by sm...

Re: Nordstrom going to Private Equity?

I think going private with a refocus on the full line stores is a great idea. The question at this point is, can the full line stores sustain themselves? I feel like Rack has been carrying the company for a number of years and the full line stores are just sort of withering away. Maybe they have clo...
