Re: Rumor: EG Group for Sale

If anything, I would expect them to sell to private equity. Perhaps Apollo or Kohlberg Kravis Roberts would be interested. They could perhaps make some improvements and then sell it in whole or part it out to local operators. Either that or Amazon might want to get into the c-store business and use...

Re: New Kroger logo?

Rebranding all the stores to Kroger would be a monumentally stupid move. Ralphs is a brand that goes back to the 1800s and has strong recognition in southern California, while most people either haven't heard of Kroger or know it only as a brand name for cheap generic items. I imagine this is simil...

Re: More Fred Meyer security issues?

You don't like the T shape? [/color] ;) As early as 1996 they at least started reforming to a more traditional 2 doors with seasonal garden and home improvement side entrances for large purchases. Beaverton appeared to convert the doors near electronics and apparel to be used for the ClickList ... ...

Re: New Kroger logo?

For a short while earlier this year the Ralphs Facebook page had been retitled as "Ralphs by Kroger" then they changed it back. I wonder if they were testing the waters to see if they got a reaction. That might be how they go about renaming the more well entrenched brands. It seems like t...

Rumor: EG Group for Sale

https://csnews.com/eg-group-sale Not clear if this is the whole EG Group (didn't they just buy part of Asda from Wal Mart) or just parts of the EG Group like their US mess. My view of EG Group running the former Kroger c-stores is they are really bad. There is little to no upkeep, pricing in-store h...

Re: More Fred Meyer security issues?

Also in OR you now have the plastic bag ban in place with mandatory super thick plastic bag fee. Given that a bag means product is paid for, it is more difficult to detect what is and isn't paid for at the exit. In a store like Fred Meyer with the somewhat strange layout, and registers that are not...

Re: New Kroger logo?

I agree. I think this is the beginning of an eventual rebannering of the regional chains. Most of the stores look pretty homogenous anyways. In 5 years it'll all be Kroger. They really want to become a nationwide grocer (especially with the Ocado delivery) and may end up opening up random stores in...

Re: Halloween Stores

I think with all the uncertainty this year the attitude of these Halloween Retailers is to book as many sales right now, early, as possible. Spirit runs on all sales final policy. There is so much uncertainty with everything, who knows what it is going to be like at the end of October. I think the g...

Re: Target 2021

I have seen Target use portable trailer restrooms during construction. They were very fancy with faux wood floors and antique style lamps. You could live in luxury if you were homeless. That would be a real upgrade from the typical Target restrooms I have dealt with over the years. This wouldn't be...

Re: New Kroger logo?

I did not see this new logo anywhere in-store at Smiths. It isn't on the signs, name tags, bags, or other locations where you would expect to see it show up. Not even on the logo on the receipt. Maybe they just came up with it a few weeks ago and need more time. It will be in the future I remember ...
