Re: Bed Bath & Beyond: Dying?

Many of their stores are looking rather dated. They may find it more efficient to just start out fresh in a new location vs. try to remodel the old locations. The store within a store thing is not new- they have been doing that for over a decade. A little odd as previously their CEO was talking abou...

Re: Fred Meyer "Spokane Test" - eliminate dedicated electronics, reduce GM, expand liquor/food, require card for sale pr

I am wondering how Fred Meyer is handling this in locations along the Oregon Coast where (although Walmart is making a few inroads) there isn't much local competition. Given that a lot of business is tourism related, do they keep a "store" card for those from out of town making purchases,...

Kroger Covington, TN "sold" to Cash Saver operator

What.. is going on at Kroger?

This looks like a fairly legitimate store with pharmacy, fuel, etc., and not that far from Memphis...

Re: Food Maxx debuts "Wall of Value" ??

Sounds like a store that is struggling and trying to re-image itself. This reminds me of when the long-gone TOP Foods store in Kelso, WA once advertised a grand re-opening, but I didn't see anything that had changed. I asked an employee what changed, he told me they installed new checkstands (movin...

Re: SteinMart Files for Bankruptcy.

Went into the Reno Stein Mart liquidation sale again. Men's department is about 33% stocked and the rest is now being used for fixture sales; cannot believe how little men's stuff they had there. The women's clothing and accessories are still pretty well stocked. The new kid's clothing area is full....

Re: Fred Meyer "Spokane Test" - eliminate dedicated electronics, reduce GM, expand liquor/food, require card for sale pr

I sent my email back towards the end of July. Here it is a month later and no response. I used to have a lot more respect for Kroger. I am originally from Ohio and knew Kroger very well long before I even knew Fred Meyer existed. I wasn't too worried when I found out years ago that Kroger was buyin...

Re: Coronavirus and Empty Restaurants

For the time being I agree, most places are pushing drive thru or pick up. I disagree heavily with eliminating indoor seating in new locations. The pandemic isn't going to last forever, and eventually we're going to say goodbye to the new normal no matter what. I get irritated when I see places mak...

Re: Food Maxx debuts "Wall of Value" ??

I went into the Sparks Food Maxx tonight. They had a big red sign in the window "WALL OF VALUE" but once inside, it is the same old displays of stuff right as you walk in that have been there ever since the store opened... still a table of bakery in the middle of the "wall" and t...

Re: Fred Meyer "Spokane Test" - eliminate dedicated electronics, reduce GM, expand liquor/food, require card for sale pr

An observation... Fred Meyer has in the past responded quickly to emails with questions or other concerns. I did send them an email expressing my opinion of the new card requirement. No response whatsoever. I think we may be seeing a "turning point" of sorts in operations at Fred Meyer. I...

Re: Food Maxx debuts "Wall of Value" ??

It is odd as I am not sure what audience they are advertising to. Perhaps the vendor community. Definitely not geared toward usual retail customers.
