Re: Could Kroger be preparing for a Florida move-in?
I will agree Kroger has acquired chains in their entirety, and would not be interested in Southeastern Grocers as a whole. I think Kroger may make one or two major acquisitions in the near future. Kroger had been sniffing at Winn-Dixie before the 2005 bankruptcy scared them off. Honestly, SE Grocer...

Re: Kroger speculated to acquire The Fresh Market
F/M new builds are 28sft. (that is their prototype). There is flexibility of course in execution and also take overs vary as well. As noted above, F/M failed in Cali for several reasons: 1. over expansion 2. distribution logistics 3. the person in charge of the area and the expansion If Kroger is t...

Re: HEB hires Mabrie Jackson as public affairs executive for North Texas
So, WFAA in Dallas posted this article earlier today: http://www.wfaa.com/news/local/heb-grocery-buys-more-property-in-tarrant-county/41324779 , and people are going crazy over the news (270+ comments so far on Facebook, compared to a usual 10-30). If HEB does make a DFW move-in, the challenge for ...

Re: Kroger speculated to acquire The Fresh Market
TFM has a nice offering, I think they failed in California because they are a "gourmet" store rather than a "natural/organic" store and in northern California the average customer doesn't seem to understand the difference between gourmet, natural, and organic. In SoCal there are...

Re: Kroger speculated to acquire The Fresh Market
A Reuters article, " Exclusive: Kroger in bid to acquire Fresh Market - sources ," mentions Kroger to be in the running to acquire Greensboro, North Carolina-based specialty-gourmet grocer The Fresh Market. Hmm...that seems a little weird. I've never been to a Fresh Market, but from what ...

Re: Phoenix: Albertsons/Safeway co-branded monthly ad
Phoenix has a couple of things going on right now: 1.) The combined Albertsons/Safeway book of savings. 2.) Both Albertsons/Safeway are doing the Monopoly loyalty game. 3.) All Albertsons/Safeway stores now have a hot wing bar. 4.) I saw a Safeway trailer parked at a building that used to be owned ...

Re: Phoenix: Albertsons/Safeway co-branded monthly ad
This does not make sense, they were even repainting some of their trucks to have the better slogan and graphics. NorCal ad still has the it's just better slogan. Then again, not much is changing yet in NorCal... yet... The trucks are still all over the place and inconsistent. I pass by the Randalls...

Re: Could Kroger be preparing for a Florida move-in?
That's probably what Albertsons/Safeway wants to go after. I wouldn't be surprised if the reason they decided to keep and renovate their last three stores was if they didn't have something in talks with Winn-Dixie already. Not a whole chain takeover, but rather picking and choosing stores. What did...

Re: Publix expanding to Virginia
I wonder why Publix decided to climb the Atlantic coast instead of focusing on the southeast? I would guess that Publix is trying to avoid Mississippi, which is understandable, but now Publix is becoming an "East Coast" chain instead of a "Southeast" chain, which I can't say I re...

Re: Could Kroger be preparing for a Florida move-in?
Kroger could acquire a current participant with significant store count in Florida, expand the Harris Teeter division across Florida, and/or go in organically with its Marketplace hypermarket stores. I see part 1 being the most likely choice. Kroger, outside a few stores here and there, hasn't grow...
