Re: Dollar Tree - Family Dollar

I was thinking the open your backpack rule might be to discourage robberies. Many people carry guns in the Oakland area. I was at a Walmart near Oakland a man asked an employee if they sold bullets. He was definitely carrying a gun. The local Walmart stores has a bullet hole in the ceiling from when...

Re: Subway Switches To Pepsi For 10 Years From Coke

Subway is Coca Cola's biggest fountain account customer with over 20,000 restaurants. This is a big loss for Coke. Perhaps it shows how pushing the Coke Freestyle machine led to increased costs for restaurants. There was a ton of soda waste, higher costs, and this led to many restaurants switching t...

I tried it tonight and I thought it was pretty good. It was not too sweet.

Subway Switches To Pepsi For 10 Years From Coke

Subway is switching to Pepsi for 10 years. Previously the chain used Coke. No more Coke Freestyle machines for Subway.

They say Pepsi is cheaper for restaurants, but more people prefer Coke products.

Re: Dollar Tree - Family Dollar

The Dollar Tree stores in the Oakland area are really getting extreme. A security guard now has a table at the door where they will make you open up your backpack and search everything.

It is like an airport screening.

Re: In N Out closing Oakland Airport area location

The city has hired a 24/7 security team to patrol the shopping center and has increased police patrols of this area around the airport. The security team also patrols the Starbucks and the Chevron station that where all those robberies occurred. There are new eye in the sky security cameras. All for...

Re: Albertsons/Vons/Pavilions Cutting Store Hours

Safeway only has a small number of 24 hour stores left in the San Francisco Bay Area. These are in the rich suburbs such as Alamo, San Ramon, etc. The San Francisco and Oakland, California ones do not stay open past midnight. Even the low crime suburbs close at 2 AM or earlier. After 2 AM, there are...

Re: Fast Food chains focusing on apps while menu prices skyrocket

This is why Taco Bell is building restaurants with multiple drive thru lanes. Some will be mobile order only lines for fast service. Some restaurants have terrible parking, so I rarely go inside to pick up my mobile orders. Taco Bell is the worst. They gave my order to another person with the same n...

Re: Wal Mart Remove Self Checkouts

Walmart got rid of self checkout in the past week or so at some San Francisco Bay Area stores. The lines are not noticeably longer since there were only 3 or 4 working self checkout machines at any given time. I did notice many staffed registers which is shocking. Previously self checkout had 3 or 4...

Oscar Mayer Plant-based NotHotDogs

Oscar Mayer will be launching plastic-based NotHotDogs and NotSausages later this year.

Will people gladly switch to these plant-based items or will it disappear in a matter of months?
