Re: Nike cutting ties with several retailers
What's more interesting is that they are cutting ties with other chains, like Boscov's, which runs old fashioned sounding stores in the East and Dillard's which skews toward an older clientele. I wonder if part of the strategy to focus on specific demographics. They may simply be dropping low volum...

Food Maxx debuts "Wall of Value" ??
https://progressivegrocer.com/foodmaxx-debuts-wall-value I am confused. Every Food Maxx I've ever been into has a wall of values as you walk into the store with pallet displays of various center store items, usually ad items. This is consistent with the Food 4 Less format which Food Maxx is patterne...

Re: Nike cutting ties with several retailers
I wonder what that will mean for the Fred Meyer adjacent to Nike headquarters that has a special 'athletic' apparel and footwear department with its own displays, register, etc. For what it's worth, several Fred Meyer stores around the Portland area, including more recent ones such as Wood Village,...

Re: Market Basket opens second Maine store (Westbrook)
Not to take anything away from this company because I am impressed with them on many levels but I love this photo of 'authentic French mini beignets' I would love to know which French chef uses these ingredients. https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/market-basket-westbrook-2?select=4_wkfl0UCCgyLyCkBHaDl...

Re: Payless To Open 300 To 500 Stores In The Next 5 Years
For a while in Reno, Payless had like 3 stores within a 1 mile radius. They had a store in the mall, they had a store on Sierra Center (Target shopping Center), a store at Kietzke/Moana (where Target was previously located). They also had a 4th store inside the Shopko (that has been closed for a lon...

Re: Bulk Foods and Self Serve Food Bars
Not quite self-service but somewhat related.... The two Walmarts near me removed their full-service delis; they still sell hot food from the case, but now all deli meats & cheeses, salads, entrees, sides and desserts are now sold prepackaged only. The self-service chilled bakery cases were put ...

Re: Bristol Farms (former Vons) Santa Barbara Opening August 20
They're been using this prototype for a couple years now. As far as I know the last store they opened prior to this was in Woodland Hills. Ironically, it was also originally built as a Vons (and was also a Haggen for a short while) These two have been under common ownership for a while now haven't ...

Re: Stores Returning to Regular Hours
I have seen people carry cats into Walmart recently. The meowing was non-stop. I also have walked through the Walmart parking lot to find eyes staring at me. There was a cat in someone's car. She seemed to enjoy seeing all the people walking by. I love your posts. You have some interesting perspect...

Re: Stores Returning to Regular Hours
Petsmart has returned to regular hours (9 PM closing weeknights). Good for them.

Re: Stores Returning to Regular Hours
It may vary by state but in NV Wal Mart is grocery entrance only. This is due to mask requirement compliance check (the signs posted on the closed general merchandise doors even say this). At stores where auto re-opened, the garden center is open and is being used as the employee entrance/wellness c...
