Re: Crucial times for Shoppers

Prior to SuperValu stepping in, Shoppers was a warehouse grocery store (similar to WinCo or Redner's... a.k.a. Wegners). Along the lines of this format, Shoppers employed warehouse shelving and was able to stock pallets above the aisles. While I have seen some backrooms from that era, I can't imagi...

Re: Crucial times for Shoppers

If anyone wants to, they should go and check out the remodels once those wrap up this month. I am intrigued to see how this one looks in comparison to all the other Shoppers decors of years past. Also, looking through Google Maps the Silver Hill location looks to have a backroom with remnants of a ...

Re: 2022: 10 Kmart, 23 Sears stores remain...

The Miami Kmart is downsizing with walls going up, but here's the catch: It is going over a part of the salesfloor that had already been vacated by Kmart a few years before. I wonder if any new decor will go up in that area. https://www.reddit.com/r/kmart/comments/xmj61v/kmart_kendale_lakes_being_su...

Re: Crucial times for Shoppers

Did UNFI actually sell the former Shoppers stores to Compare? Or was Compare just operating them? Reason I ask is that the decor never changed and based on pictures on Google it looks like a Shoppers with Compare merchandise. I know it is nothing new for an ethnic grocer to take over another store ...

Re: Crucial times for Shoppers

Compare Foods on these three locations appears to have been a complete disaster. I find it very interesting UNFI decided to reopen them. I'm not sure if we can interpret this in UNFI being interested in the chain or just not wanting to lose the supply business from these 3 stores, or potential leas...

Re: Crucial times for Shoppers

Now this is an interesting turn for Shoppers. UNFI is back to investing in the chain. Three locations have been taken back from Compare Foods who bought these sites out in 2019. Remodels are also underway. https://www.businesswire.com/news/home/20220929005952/en/5295443/United-Natural-Foods-to-Incre...

Looks like the Bridgehampton Kmart has lost its signature blue sign and a cheap banner has gone up instead. This could mean multiple things, whether it is being mended, if store closing is near or TransformCo simply does not want to care for it.

Re: Walmart Downsizing Stores?

This is happening to another store I know that remodeled less than three years ago. I honestly think retailers really need to keep track of when their stores are last remodeled, because it can turn out to be a waste of money and set them back next time the renovation cycle arrives.

Re: Amazon Halts All New Amazon Fresh Just Walk Out Stores

He Pasadena (CA) store (with Just Walk Out) opened last Thursday. It's located in a former OSH and was under development for over a year. This is as Amazon tries to attain a certain number of openings per quarter, and as it takes time for them to set up "Just Walk Out" technology - all wh...

Re: Wegman's Ends Self-checkout Due To Theft

Wegmans changed out a lot of self-checkout machines when this app went online, so I don't know how much worth that had.
