Re: Sears Perpheral Brands
They have been trying to sell off the auto center business for a few years now, but there doesn't seem to be much interest (I mean, why would anyone want to buy a bunch of garages on a mall property that probably aren't doing so hot to begin with?). Sears is still putting some money into the brands ...

Re: Three's a crowd
This company removing self checkouts is causing the lines to be even longer. This makes it that much harder to actually offer "Three's a Crowd." Siphoning off 4 customers at a time to go use self checkout really helps get those line lengths down and stop the bottlenecks at the front end. ...

Re: Target to close 11 stores before year end
Here's another article from today showing that Target is not quite on Target. http://www.cnbc.com/2016/08/17/targets-traffic-problems-wont-be-an-easy-fix.html -Again they point out that people aren't coming in for groceries (or much else either) -A note about the Pharmacy switchover (which I think w...

Re: Target to close 11 stores before year end
And just as I said in a previous post, it is pretty much now confirmed that Target is having trouble selling groceries.

Re: Macy's to close 100 stores
I'm really surprised the number is not higher in all honesty. Through all of Macy's mergers over the years, they ended up with stores in almost every mall across the country. The problem is, the type of shopper that Macy's targets is dwindling. Middle class people are shopping at places like Target ...

Re: Kmart's Time Is Running Out
I hate to say Kmart's time ran out years ago. It made the mistake by not keeping up with Walmart's Walmart Supercenter stores with Super Kmart Center stores. It is sad and not a surprise to see Kmart fade away. Actually, I think it was a good idea to give up on the 'Super' concept. Even Walmart and...

Re: Ahold and Delhaize merger closing at the end of the month
One other thing remains - whatever Martin's labelled stores are not being sold - those it would seem to make sense at some point to redo them as Giant, since the only reason the Martin's name came about years ago was when the two Giant chains were separately owned and as one moved into areas the ot...

Re: Hastings could close all stores
I wonder if we will even have a national bookstore chain left in ten years. Seriously. Look what happened to many of the big video store chains as well as music store chains. The internet has really changed everything. I don't really think that is a bad thing, really. The only national bookstore ch...

Re: Publix expanding to Virginia
I read in another article Weis has no debt. That is wonderful and explains a lot about how they have been able to keep going despite what appear to be somewhat low store volumes and in general not overly exciting stores in some really competitive places. I wonder how much of their real estate they ...

So I take it most Food Lions do not look like this? http://www.savannaharchitects.com/blog/project/foodlion/ http://www.southeasternproducts.com/food-lion-102/ The only thing I know about the poor Food Lion chain is that report that ABC News"Primetime Live" put out about re-labeling expir...
