Kroger adds "Fresh Cart" icon to Kroger logo, banner logos
https://www.supermarketnews.com/retail-financial/kroger-rolls-out-fresh-cart-part-logo I happened to read about this on a design blog I follow: Kroger is rolling out a new icon called "Fresh Cart" that will become part of the Kroger logo. It will also be tacked on to every store banner log...

Re: Whole Foods No Cashiers
Pardon the question, but I'm curious as to what makes the Dash carts more cumbersome than regular check out? Isn't the idea you just wheel yourself right out to your car? Or are there bagging issues / stopped at a door for an audit?

Off-topic, but I think that Grocery Outlet's current TV campaign is as cringe-worthy as the clips in this thread. Especially the Grocery Outlet ad with the mermaid. It really makes you wonder if terrible ad campaigns do more harm than good.

Re: Smart & Final Torrance closed
I work out at a gym literally across the street from this shopping center. It looks like work is being done on the S&F building to turn it into something new, but no "Coming Soon" signs up. Maybe they just did some work on the building so it wouldn't look terrible empty.

Re: Remaining unfilled Haggen stores
What about San Marcos, CA (Rancho Santa Fe Rd. & San Marcos Blvd.)? Former Vons, I believe then became Haggen. Now vacant; was just down in that shopping center last week.

Their Los Angeles store at 6855 S La Cienega is a new-build. It's not on the list in the article linked above, but I believe the location opened last week. According photos on the Yelp page for the location, it's branded "Amazon Fresh Ladera Heights," which is not technically true but clos...

Re: Pavilions?
Albertsons opened a very nice store in La Costa (NE corner of La Costa and El Camino) in March 2004. It was going to open in October 2003, but it was delayed by the strike. Lucky was going to build on that lot, but planning of the store was delayed before. This store had a Jewel interior like this:...

Re: Pavilions?
A lot of stores developed by Vons in the 1985-90 period were intended to be Pavilions but then two things happened that changed the plan. Interesting. I grew up in the La Costa area and I remember when the La Costa Vons (El Camino Real & Aviara Pkwy) opened in the early '90s, it was an absolute...

Also, westerners have NO concept of what Belk is. I still remember seeing the 'Belk bowl' on TV and having to go search what in the heck Belk was. I can attest to this. I've lived my entire life in Southern California and never heard of Belk until I started visiting these message boards. When I fir...

Walmart announced they were selling Vudu to Fandango in April. Not sure if the deal closed yet.
