Re: Walgreens' logo redesigned

What I can say... I'm not a fan of this one too much. The bolding of it really gives off that social media age-kitsch. Though it is a nice update, it was just not needed (except for the designers themselves).

Still better than target's lowercase though...

Re: Crucial times for Shoppers

I think Farm Fresh is down to 2 stores according to the farmfreshva.com website unless that is one operator's site and other operators have different websites. The Newport News Farm Fresh appears to be more of an Asian-focused store now. The other one looks like in recent photos that it is not real...

Re: Thread star ratings

With this update it seems to me as if the site header is broken. The logo only shows up through a smaller thumbnail and the default title text appears to the right.

Re: Crucial times for Shoppers

That is how they handled Farm Fresh too. Some of those are still open under independents. The results were not good. I think some already shut down and reviews online were awful and photos of store conditions under the independents were a nosedive from previous photos when they were corporate store...

Re: Crucial times for Shoppers

Killing the in-store pharmacies, which although isn't a money-maker like the old days, hurts their prospects, and UNFI's seeming insistence at wanting to keep the wholesale business (which is part of the reason, I assume, they've been dragging their feet on the Cub Foods sale). Even under SuperValu...

Re: Retail design trends

And of course Walmart uses wood in their clothing departments only from what I've seen. The newer wood floors they're using in their stores when they do concrete have more of a grippy feel while the older wood look floors were glossy just like the tiles. I saw them putting them down one night and t...

Re: Kroger "big announcement coming" on branding

With recent changes at Fred Meyer to their card program, and the replacement of the Fred Meyer brand with the Kroger brand on many private label items, as well as the general merchandise side gradually being whittled away, I wouldn't rule out an eventual rebranding down the road. Fred Meyer's GM si...

Re: Retail design trends

Terrazzo seems to wear like iron too. Good example of that-I graduated high school in 1980 and the school itself was built in the mid-1960's. The main entrance in front of the office and auditorium had terrazzo flooring which looked original to the building. I just saw a recent picture of that entr...

Re: Crucial times for Shoppers

I suspect UNFI sees what happens to most of what it sells- like Farm Fresh. They do not retain the wholesale business despite their intentions to do so. Even if they sell the stores off to independents, the stores do not stay in business long. There is a reason why Supervalu had these odd scattered...

Re: Crucial times for Shoppers

Another semi-new update: Shoppers, alongside Cub are to remain open until about mid-2022, under UNFI/SuperValu's control. These articles state that Shoppers will close some stores in the meantime, however no final sale/shutdown for either banner is to occur. * https://www.grocerydive.com/news/unfi-d...
