Re: 2023 Lidl closings
Add District Heights, MD/Oxon Hill, MD to the closing list. The store is right at the border between the two areas. https://www.bizjournals.com/washington/news/2023/07/12/lidl-closing-district-heights-store-others.html This is one of the Shoppers locations that Lidl purchased in 2019/2020. Brooklyn...

Re: 2023 Lidl closings
Yet they do continue to open/announce new stores... It is unfortunate. I think their format is excellent. The problem is they must not be pulling the volumes they need, and some of the stores they are opening strike me as oversized. The expense structure may be too high. Something is clearly not wo...

Re: My kind of store :-)
While I do like some of the elements, and the features of the store it still strikes me as typical to what every grocery retailer is doing now. I prefer what Hy-Vee had right before this.

Re: McDonald’s Grimace Meal
Someone must have made a mistake. Generation X is not usually targeted by a fast-food campaign. It's usually Boomers and Gen Z. '90s nostalgia has been profitable for a while now. Not to mention that generation probably has the fondest memories of McDonald's past. Personally I like this campaign, b...

Re: Wegmans to close Natick, MA location
Several items come to mind: Selling the "national" brands of chips and pretzels like Lays and Rold Gold instead of the local PA brands like Snyders of Hanover or Herrs. Also not selling Hatfield pork products. With Hatfield I wonder if not selling the product was related to Hatfield being...

Re: Wegmans to close Natick, MA location
It sounds a lot like when Giant-MD tried expanding to the Philly area with their Super G stores. They were carbon copies of the stores that Giant operated in their home market down to the products that were being sold in a market that had specific tastes and brands of their own. No surprise that Su...
