Re: How Taco Bell Crippled KFC & Pizza Hut
Disclaimer: I did not (and am not going to) watch the video. Yum has not invested significantly in improving Pizza Hut or KFC since their purchase, only in simplifying prep and menus, often at the expense of taste and freshness; a case in point is Pizza Hut. I worked in a restaurant owned by a large...

Re: ALDI to acquire Winn-Dixie
Rouses is an AWG customer, but are trying to become self-distributing. They recently opened a new headquarters in Houma, LA just off US90 that will cater to their ever-expanding portfolio of stores.

Re: Sam's Club Rolling out AI Receipt Checking Gates, Walmart expanding Delivery by Drones
The bigger question is how many of these ideas/initiatives will bleed over to the Wal Mart side? I expect some will. It has long been known in Walmart corporate folklore that Sam's operates independently of Walmart. Sam drove that point home with a sledgehammer in corporate meetings when they start...

Re: CVS Closing Dozens of Pharmacies Inside Target
If the front end was profitable, then why are all the chains cutting it to minimum assortment, jacking up prices to sky high, all self checkouts, and piloting what are in effect pharmacy only stores? Obviously they are not making money there these days due to higher labor costs and margin pressures...

Re: 7-Eleven buying large chunk of Sunoco
This purchase allows 7-11 to take in the remaining part of Stripes/Laredo Taco that they do not already own, per multiple sites.

Re: CVS Closing Dozens of Pharmacies Inside Target
CVS saw that running a pharmacy without a front end was subject to losses. We all saw this coming for some time. I disagree with that sentiment for two reasons: Pharmacies in CVS and Walgreens are the profit centers of their main stores - why do you think front store pricing there is so high? To ma...

Re: JCPenney Portrait Studio
JCPenney is trying to drum up business by offer free headshots. I can't believe the portrait studios are still open. Do they even do any business these days? Are there still portrait studios run by other companies anywhere else? Didn't Sears have these at one time? https://chainstoreage.com/jcpenne...

Re: 🛒 Kroger-Albertsons Merger: National Impact
They are not talking about anything other than the FTC extending the deadline beyond January 17. This is complete silliness. The FTC and multiple states are going to sue to block it. Yet the FTC has indeed allowed a lot of other silliness over the last two decades that has not been allowed before. ...

Re: Sears & Kmart 2024: Will someone please put them out of their misery?
Sears Mexico is a separate company not connected to the US company. They do far better than our dozen do. It's kind of like Kmart Australia.storewanderer wrote: ↑January 8th, 2024, 10:51 pm There is a very nice looking Sears nearby in Mexico in Ciudad Juarez. I can only imagine the confusion of folks who shop on both sides of the border.
