Re: Safeway Confirms Sale Talks...
I could see Albertsons LLC buying Safeway and keeping the Safeway name where there are no Albertsons, like Northern California, Hawaii and the DC area. But I could only see Kroger getting involved where there is not much overlap and some of the stores going away. In terms of Seattle, inside the city...

Re: Sobeys Buys Canada Safeway
Sobeys has found buyers for the stores that they agreed with the Canadian government to get rid of. They also added some stores that they were not required to get rid of. But it looks like the Safeway banner on Vancouver Island will be gone. The Safeway stores there are going to become Save On Foods...

Pacific Place Seattle for Sale
Pacific Place Mall in Downtown Seattle is for sale. Hmmm...I wonder if GGP, the owners of nearby Westlake Center might want to buy it and co-market both malls?

Re: Lands End and Auto Centers seperating from Sears?

Re: Is Safeway going to unload the Vons division?
A Safeway takeover by Cerberus would be interesting. I could see the Safeway banner surviving in Northern California and the Carrs/Safeway banner in Alaska. There would be a lot of overlap with many stores being sold off. But I can see Albertsons picking up some urban Safeways as there are not a lot...

Re: Vons La Canada-Flintridge
That is interesting. In the past couple of decades, Safeway usually would not sell or lease their old building to other grocers. I know there have been exceptions, but usually that has been the case according to my observations!
