Re: The Shops at Tanforan To Turn Into Tech Office Space
I am really surprised to see Tanforan closing. Dillard's tried to get into that mall in the late 90's but something happened; they were going to build a new building. I think the mall ended up with a new movie theater instead. That is a mall that I thought had managed to keep doing well even after m...

Re: Potential multiple takeover bids for Kohl's
This entire proposal was indicative of a inexperienced leadership team that had no idea what the costs are and how difficult it is to just start chopping up open and active stores into pieces. There is a reason the preferred store setup most of the time is fully demolishing previous tenant building...

Re: Burlington stores shrinking
In terms of square footage, the Burlington store at Everett Mall is fairly large at around 69,000 square feet, having been built out of what used to be interior space in the mall leading to the (now detached) former Mervyn's space occupied by an Esporta (rebranded LA Fitness) club. It seems that a ...

Re: Vons Westminster, CA 16450 Beach Blvd
It seems like 80k square foot supermarkets just don't work in SoCal... can't seem to get them profitable enough... or survive long term... seems to be proven time and time again... My guess is an Asian grocer is lined up to take all or part of the location, with a large food hall type operation to t...

Re: New Smith's Marketplace in Henderson, NV
Smiths seems to really like the Marketplace format. Though there are the 5 that used to be Fred Meyer plus the Lehi Store that are still Fred Meyer/Smiths combination stores (non food side is 100% Fred Meyer program and the stores have a shared P&L between the two divisions) and the other 13? Ma...

Re: Walgreens Closures Continue in San Francisco
A Walgreens in the Financial District at 141 Kearny Street is closing on February 22. San Francisco is suffering from a lack of people returning to their offices to work. The city has many tech companies and they all seem to be working from home. Only 20 percent of workers have returned vs up to 45...

Re: CVS Pharmacies Closing For Lunch Nationwide
I have experienced the lunch time line at the pharmacy that I work at. Customers will complain and demand to speak to a manager. In fact, some refuse to leave and will even try to hold the gate open. It has gotten to the point where we almost had to call the police. Some people are crazy. I had a w...

Vons Westminster, CA 16450 Beach Blvd
Store is closing; former Pavilions in a busy area. Hard to believe this was underperforming but maybe with their awful pricing it was especially as Target has added more groceries and is in the same parking lot. Closure is being blamed on a lease issue. Okay. Next, it will be interesting to see what...

Re: CVS Pharmacies Closing For Lunch Nationwide
I'm not sure how to take this. In busy stores that have 3 pharmacists on duty (what planet am I living on?) there is no reason to close like this. Especially if you have a pharmacy that is open 9-9 and you have 3 pharmacists- an opener, a mid, and a closer. This seems to be more of an admission that...
