Re: Food Maxx Closing Bakersfield, CA Chester
The reviews on Google are showing constant expired and rotted food, long lines, rude staff, etc. If it flips to Superior it's for the best. Superior runs and excellent Hispanic format with fresh bakery, meat and decent prices.

Re: Albertsons/Vons Giving Away Sanitation Products
The dumbest thing about the apps is that I need to install all 3 in SoCal. I can't use the Vons app at Albertsons or Pavilions (it directs you to use the app at the store banner you are shopping) when all store banners have the same deals/coupons. The app is MUCH easier to use now that you have a ba...

Re: Thrifty Rite Aid Branded Stores
I sometimes wonder how well the Thrifty ice cream would sell if supermarkets carried it. Haggen actually sold Thrifty ice cream during their 6 month stay in California. So do many of the Mexican markets in SoCal. Superior Grocers comes to mind as I still see Thrifty ice cream sold there. Thrifty is...

Montecito VONS
Heard today from some employees that this store is converting to Pavilions.
Seems to make sense for this part of Santa Barbara County. Not sure how big the store is but hopefully it comes out nice and thrives.

Re: Teamsters Union attempting to "pause" 7-11/Speedway Merger
7-11 unbranded gas is a joke. The first and only time I purchased gas from 7-11, my car started "mis firing". I got a check engine light about an hour later and checked with my mechanic. He said this is usually caused by "bad gas". I had to get some formula from Autozone to get t...

Re: Ralphs and Food 4 Less Closing in Long Beach over $4 per hour additional required "Hero Pay"
Was this Ralphs an Alphabeta previously?
Judging by the reviews, that Ralphs has horrible customer service. Even comments from customers about the store manager being hard to work with. It looks like storage managment might be why this store was struggling.

Albertson/Vons/Pavilions Pricing
I went to Albertson's, Vons and Pavilions tonight and pricing is much different across these banners. Albertson's had a foot long deli sandwich for $5, Vons had them at $7.99 and Pavilions had them at $14.99??? The Albertsons version used Dietz and Watson or Primo Taglio (it wasn't labeled), Vons us...

Re: IHOP Struggles
IHOP is struggling because they aren't open long enough. There have been many times I crave IHOP for dinner but they are closed? WHY??? If you see Denny's getting your business, why wouldn't you stay open longer? IHOP is digging it's own grave by not staying open longer. Most IHOPs in SoCal close at...

Re: Pavilions?
The one in Arcadia, which I think was the second store, was either an expansion or replacement of a store in the same plaza. The layout was an odd mix of warehouse store ambience (very minimalist decor and display) mixed with upscale center store areas and expanded produce. The sit down area was sm...
