Re: The Final Days of Sears & Kmart, 2019

I am sure this is a very fluid situation but Reuters and various other outlets are reporting today that Lampert's bid did not meet creditor requirements. As such a group called Abacus has been selected to run the full chain liquidation. Inventory levels look terrible at the stores I've been to the ...

Re: Albertsons/Rite Aid Merger is off: What's next

To add to this, one big thing is when Rite Aid sold stores to Walgreens, one of the terms of the transaction was they could join the Walgreens Boots Alliance generic prescription drug buying program. At the time, Rite Aid management said this could get their costs down significantly. I interpreted t...

Re: Albertsons/Rite Aid Merger is off: What's next

Oh I think they are trying. They kept their strongest stores yet they fail to paint any sort of positive picture to Wall Street about the future prospects of the company. The stores are fine; they are stocked well, staffed properly, the Wellness Store Remodeling program is continuing, and they shave...

Re: Ahold Delhaize (Stop & Shop) buys King Kullen

With as boring, uninspired, and high priced as Stop & Shop is, it is hard to imagine King Kullen was any worse. This is clearly a loss. And there appear to be a lot of overlapping stores.

Re: Albertsons/Rite Aid Merger is off: What's next

Current management is doing everything they can to make Rite Aid appear weak and drive it into bankruptcy.

Cannot believe the merger got turned down but current management team got to stay.

Re: And another one bites the dust!

I would venture the mall is in some trouble with two vacant anchor spaces. The Macy's interior looks pretty dire (probably mostly original to the 80's). I can't find any photos of the Sears interior. The JC Penney interior looks fairly modern as if it got new flooring and lights/ceiling tiles in the...

Re: Whole Foods Expansion

Whole Foods seems to have gone downhill under Amazon. The produce looks no different than the produce at any other store but aside from the .49/lb bananas the prices are double other stores in that part of town like Smiths, Sprouts, Trader Joes, Raleys, or WinCo (they are about in line with Safeway ...

Re: "Grant Park" QFC closing February 2nd

I agree that QFC has suffered a major decline the past few years as Kroger took away much of what was unique about it. Quality of perimeter has slipped considerably with either items not being as fresh as they should be, or changing from the higher quality items QFC used to sell over to standard Kro...

Re: "Grant Park" QFC closing February 2nd

This store always seemed really low volume... I wonder what will take its space. Maybe demolish and non-grocery use will go there.
