Re: DFW Grocers Market Share 2021
Another takeway I got from this article and the other posts in this thread is that no one (referring to these chains) really knows what to do with the DFW retail market. They know they all want in (to be expected, given it's the fastest growing market in the US), but they all seem to struggle with e...

Re: Is 2021 finally the end for Sears/Kmart?
Not sure if this Twitter account is official, but it suggests the last store in Michigan (Marshall) is set to close:

Re: DFW Grocers Market Share 2021
My uneducated hypothesis on Market Street is that their pricing is simply way out of line. They've made a good effort at trying to execute a H-E-B / Wegman's-like experience in DFW, but want to charge a Whole Foods / Central Market-like premium for that experience. Conversely, compare it to WinCo Fo...

Re: Publix entering Louisville, KY in 2023
IMHO, Publix is waaay overrated. They've had 20 years to battle Kroger in Atlanta and Kroger is still on top. Don't get me wrong, Publix is good. They're just not as godlike as people build them up to be. Publix's main issue is pricing. The standard Publix store tends to offer more frills, cleaner ...

Re: Publix entering Louisville, KY in 2023
Are you able to provide a source for your Walmart claim? Grantes, it doesn't specifically mention the Detroit area, but the below article from 2004 confirms there were already 30 Supercenters in the state and the rapid expansion of more Supercenters was ongoing. That's more in line with how I remem...

Re: Publix entering Louisville, KY in 2023
In 2010, Publix surpassed Kroger as the market share leader in Atlanta, but Kroger quickly regained the title back and has maintained it since. But both chains have since lost market share to Walmart. I realize that Kroger isn't the fan favorite on here, but they generally run excellent stores with...

Re: Publix entering Louisville, KY in 2023
That's all well and good buckguy, but they declined and Kroger didn't. Dozens of them declined Kroger has it going on. People have choices. Kroger had Cub, Giant Eagle, Food Town, Big Bear, A&P, Fazio's, Food Town, Winn-Dixie, Fresh Encounter, Cook United and Colonial through the years and they...

Re: Short staffed restaurants
Not surprised to see DFW rank near the bottom for quality of service and ambience (amongst all top 25 markets), based on my anecdotal experience... “Understaffed”: New restaurant report shows worker shortage affecting ‘guest satisfaction’ and sales https://www.dallasnews.com/food/restaurant-news/202...

Re: Short staffed restaurants
I always wondered about those PIzza Huts that have drive-thrus. Were they just for picking up pre-ordered items? A drive thru there doesn't make sense due to the wait times. Seems most of those around here were on the few built in the mid to late 1980s, typically really small town ones that never g...
