Re: Walmart announces major new store opening and remodel initiative
I've been traveling around Mexico and the stores down here are far better than any Walmart I've seen in the US. Clean, well faced and stocked. 2ho ever is running Mexico should be placed in charge of US stores

Re: Burlingame Fred Meyer sign demolished
That sign hasn't worked right for many years. Parts were always burned out, I think the inside was rusted. The new one will look like the one one but with LED. I don't know why the media is making such a big deal out of it. This is an improvement and respects history.

Re: CVS Closing Dozens of Pharmacies Inside Target
At Super Targets, I figure they would just dismantle the pharmacy structure since I've always seen them freestanding. In regular Target's where they are generally up in the front wall, I wonder if the best use is as a staging area for online orders. Just need to add an outside door to access the par...

Re: 🛒 Kroger-Albertsons Merger: Northwest, Rockies, & Alaska Impact
There's already discussions of Fred Meyer selling it's HQ to the Portland school district as a replacement campus for Cleveland high school that sits about a block away on a much smaller site. Very little of the Fred Meyer HQ is being used today. Do they still have a lot of non food buyers there or...

Re: 🛒 Kroger-Albertsons Merger: Northwest, Rockies, & Alaska Impact
The Fred Meyer you are thinking of may be the Shoreline Store. I think that store has decent traffic and likely hits $1 million a week which for a store of that size isn't really great and they could cut the thing in half and probably not even lose $100k of the volume. That is a strange Fred Meyer ...

Re: CVS Closing Dozens of Pharmacies Inside Target
So what do they do with the space? In most stores, it's not a huge amount of square feet. Just wall it off, add a door, and use it for stock room space? Make it the Ulta space?

Re: Rite Aid closing at least 63 stores
12 more stores closing in today's court docket. Downtown Portland. Read the Google reviews on that store recently. YIKES. That store is in the Pearl District. It should be a cash cow for them. It's a block or two away from being in an ideal location but there are few real competitors in an area tha...

Re: Costco Food Court
Since we are on the subject of what they could do with their food court. Adding a cooler with some of the items from the in-store deli in the back of the store might be a great idea. The turkey roll-ups, mac & cheese, croissant sandwich and other items that they already make and sell could be a ...

Re: 🛒 Kroger-Albertsons Merger: Northwest, Rockies, & Alaska Impact
Moving stores from $500K to $1M a week type consolidation is the Kroger specialty as we saw with the mass culling of Ralphs stores in SoCal. They obviously don't care about the pain it causes. Remember that they're going to be more focused on sales per square foot metrics as well as bottom line pro...

Re: Costco Food Court
Tried the cookie over the weekend and it was pretty good. Remember this is a snack bar and a cookie makes a great snack. This has winner written all over it unlike the $9.99 Roast Beef sandwich.
