Re: OSH Closing All Stores
They're not wasting any time. I already received an email announcing the store closings and the beginning of liquidation sales ("10 to 30% off.")

Re: Sears/Kmart Death Watch 2018
What's the story on that small store in Los Angeles? Seems to be a thriving retail district with a Whole Foods in the same lot. The shopping center in which it's located is scheduled to undergo a major renovation . They're adding housing units and more retail, and much of the existing center is bei...

Re: Albertsons & Vons Combo Ads in SoCal
I mentioned it in the "Integration of Albertsons and Safeway" thread a few weeks ago. For the past two weeks, I've gotten a combined Albertsons/Vons ad, with the notation "Club Card not needed in Albertsons stores." So I guess they've finally combined forces and will have identic...

Re: Target using lowercase "target" on full-scale stores
I also recently saw the lowercase lettering on a Target sign in Morgan Hill CA, next to the 101 freeway. It's also on the Target a bit farther south in Gilroy. My local target (Duarte, CA) recently got the full interior remodel, but so far they haven't changed the exterior signage. They also got ri...

Re: Candid Competition: Ralph's vs. Albertsons
The Safeway logo they used on the title card (in the still from above) is the former UK Safeway logo. I'm pretty sure it has never been used in the US. And it was a little odd that they said "Albertsons, which is Safeway" for two reasons: One, it's really the other way around, and two, sin...

Re: Integration of Albertsons and Safeway
For the past two weeks, I've gotten a combined Albertsons/Vons ad, with the notation "Club Card not needed in Albertsons stores." So I guess they've finally combined forces and will have identical promotions from now on. "Score 4" has been eliminated and they're both using "...

Re: West Covina Albertsons closed
For anyone interested in the history of Eastland Shopping Center, here's a link. The supermarket was originally a Hiram's (pre-Lucky.) And it was once a "conventional" mall, anchored by a large May Co. and W.T. Grant. Other department stores (Roberts, Mervyn's) came and went later.

This is a former Lucky in the outbuildings/strip mall section of the Eastland Shopping Center.
